My Future Bench Rifle

Look Mikey you're right. I'll accept and this is done and over with. I got start from scratch to do an 8mm project anyway, I will never be able to afford the machining required to stretch the magazine well, and even then it'll take until I get a stable job. I'm on unemployment and I'm on medicare. I can only take like one step at a time, and quitting smoking was for my health, not because I wanted to. And trust me, the withdrawals are still hitting me hard after two weeks of being smoke free.

When I say custom, I mean it's made by me. Maybe I should have say "my ghetto rigged crappy ass cheekpiece that suits it's purpose." It doesn't matter, I'm going to eventually be getting a new stock for it anyway, as well as for the 8mm. They both will be properly bedded, glass or pillar, I'm not sure yet. I haven't done any research on which is better yet.(See link Choate Stock)

I just hit 20, I've been on my own since the beginning of this year, and everything went to hell. I got laid off, and haven't been able to find work since.

I began thinking about doing an 8mm project a couple years ago but pushed it aside. And though I still don't have the resources, I understand better the MECHANICS, if not the cost efficiency. But I have access to a friends reloading bench, and I should be able to develop loads to serve my purpose of 6-800 meter shooting. I WILL find a way. I have a tendency to make things work in my favor.

If I can make this knife handle and sheath work, I feel that I can make a long range 8mm work.

For those of you who are wondering. LJ and I talked via PM last night. Everything is fine. He is a pretty cool guy. He is just going through a bunch of stuff right now.

As for going off track on this thread, I apologize for helping it go in that direction. I think there is still some merit to this thread. We learned something here about 1000 Yd shooting. It is not something that can be taken lightly. It is achievable with patience and good equipment. We also learned that to take one thing and make it something it was never intended to be is somewhat futile; Not impossible, but maybe unrealistic. We also learned that a young mans dream can cause angst once the dream is realized as unlikely, or near impossible without far too much expense.

Have I left anything out here. Oh yeah... one more thing. If one takes the High Road, we can accomplish many more things than ever thought possible. I would consider LJ my friend, because we took the High Road last night and discussed the whole thing. We have said our apologies and shook hands (So to speak) and walked away better men because of it!

Thanks for reading.

Mikey!

No problem LJ,

I enjoyed getting to know you better yesterday. I just wish we didn't have to argue to get the ball rolling! :banghead::barf::D
