Waitone - words fail me. I am so sorry for your loss. I have an 11 month old daughter and would be absolutely devastated if something like this happened to her.

i do not have the words to say the anger i feel after reading your post. but do know that eventually everyone gets what they deserve. while i am not a religous person, i do belive there is something to be said for karma. my family and i send you the deepest condolances. i wish i could say more but my thoughts of that IT are not for here

everybody is just passing the buck, whats the (so called) judges phone number? the DA only has email listed , I want to tell them what I think of the lousy sentence personally.

What a hell hole Charlotte will become/is...when this story goes national
every creep in the country will go there when they want to hurt children.

I lived in Ashville for a summer once and I loved it there, but I doubt I will ever visit NC again.

everybody should call AND write and give them what for and call the various orgs and news outlets.

I am sure that you know this, but whatever you do, DO NOT entertain or speak about desires for vengence. This dirtbags life is not worth ruining yours again. Hopefully the justice that you were denied in the courts will visit him in prison. If not, and he somehow gets out you could allways post flyers with his picture and Caleb's picture around his neighborhood, place of business, local markets. That should make him VERY popular. Include no threats, simply inform the public to his presence. They do it with sex offenders, why not muderers?

Of course, the healthyest (and hardest) thing to do would be to put this behind you and get on with your lives. I feel truely sorry for you and your family, and I know that justice will be done either by man or God.

A fair amount of work and scheming has taken place since the original post. I've been in contact with reports who have been feeding info on how to keep Caleb and his cause in the media. I've learned the art of a well-placed letter and how to exploit it. I've also been advised to go to school on groups like MADD which was singled out as probably the best organization to mimic. At some point I'll write a tome to Jim March and get some of his smarts.

My network and my daughter's network extends all over the US. The response is fairly consistent. How could a travesty happen? My view is How is irrelevant. What is important is that it happened and has been happening for quite a while now. Over time my shock has been replaced with a cold resolve.

Feelers are out to the national media. I've been advised that the best way to get national interest is to have plenty of local interest. Hopefully we can keep periodic stories in the media over an extended timeframe. I still maintain the story is not the murder of a child, nor is the story about a meaningless sentence in the joint. The real story is of a DA's office being hell-bent on not going to trial because of insufficient funding WHILE at the same time the host city and county spend money like drunken sailors or shore leave. The situation is a classic example of how governmental priorities get completely out of whack.

At the bottom of post #1 I attached an Excel file containing appropriate names and emails of those responsible for this mess. If you have the time I request that you drop a note to one or several of the names listed. I am convinced the Charlotte glitterati will notice emails from across the country and world, for that matter, commenting on Caleb's case.
