My Gun & The Bank

Pretty easy to have the lady of the house double stitch the bottom seam of your pockets that you intend to carry in.

Pretty easy to do it yourself, too. :neener:

Might even earn you some brownie-points with that lady. ;)

Wow.Thats just crappy luck right there. If I started to drop my gun in a bank, this is what everyone around me would see: :what:

Next would be me sprinting for my car to go home and change into clean undies!

You were smart enough to have the gun secured in a holster, then Mr. Murphy decided to screw with you and rip your pocket.Doesnt sound like you did anything wrong, and it was just bad luck.Glad you came out of it fine, with the exception of an adrenalin rush.

This is why I'm glad I like (its the most comfortable for me BY FAR) to carry OWB in a holster with a retention strap, I am lucky that this type of carry has never been at all uncomfortable for me, and I live in a state where I dont ever have worry (leglally) about trying too hard to conceal my gun (makes it easier to carry in a comfortable manner when you dont have to put any effort/though into wether it stays 100% concealed or not, like some states), as open carry is perfectly legal here, as is "sloppy" concealed carry, which is what I do 99% of the time just because it's easier to be comfortable, and easier to access my gun if, heaven forbid, I ever needed to.

In Georgia, they addressed the "naked pocket carry" by requiring guns to be holstered at all times when on your person. I am glad that you did not accidentally discharge your firearm. If pocket carrying is legal in your state, I might suggest a better quality pocket. :)

If you ever drop your gun in the bank, just say, "Man, I hope no criminals saw that."

JohnBT:

Yes. Been doing it for years and never had a problem.

John

Hush. Listen to the lawyer and do what he says. :)

vis-a-vis:

Great opportunity to have said "Oh, right, I almost forgot. I also want to make a substantial withdrawal."

Carry In A Bank?

My bank has a great big sign on the front door that prohibits concealed weapons. I don't want this to sound like a flame ( I once walked into an on-post bank W/ an M-16 ,you wanna see some eyebrows get raised try that some time.) but to me walking into a bank W/a gun seems to be one of those things that would cause waaaaaaaay more problems than it would solve.

Get a Beretta tomcat and carry it instead of that full sized paper weight that you currently carry. Carrying a gun concealed is like picking your tie, you have to have some different options for the different activities that you do. Don't get trapped into the mindset of "I have to carry a .44 mag or a .500 S&W". Stopping power arguments aside, the gun, the confidence, the presentation, the shot placement and the training will keep you alive. The caliber will only make holes downrange.

The police in Europe have used and do use .32's and .380's extensively, so they have SOME stopping power. After that I would suggest you also carry some of the other pictured items. Staying alive is a serious business and you never know which hand is going to be out of service or if you are tied, et cetera.

I carry most of the below items, with the addition of an NAA 22 short revolver in a pocket holster and a boot knife. There are a LOT of options that KaBar's TDI last Ditch will give you... USE THEM, WEAR THEM, TRAIN WITH THEM. They could make the crucial difference.

The G19 is usually very comfortable for me to carry. For me it conceals well, fits my hand well, and is the gun I am most proficient with. I also have a Bersa Thunder if I want something smaller. Occasionally I think about getting a kel-tec for those times I want to go lite.

MT law prohibits cc in al government buildings, BANKS ect....
I remove pistol from holster and put it in vehical holster before i enter such buildings. Check your local laws.

I don't even carry at the bank. They might freak if this happened in their branch. Last year I needed to pick up a large sum of cash to buy a car, so I asked them the day before if they have a concealed carry policy. The clerk started stuttering and looked at me like I asked her to chew off her own leg. She finally eeked out that they have a policy against it and it's not allowed in the building. So I just visit my bank during my lunch break, as I can't carry at work anyhow. I'll fail to mention the name of my bank, because they're pretty good besides this regrettable blemish.

mbt2001, do you mind explaining those things?

I understand everything except for the Captain Planet ring. Looks neat though!

I would be hard-pressed to be able to decide which weapon to use if I had that many on me at any given time. I'm down with gun, knife, OC.

P.S. And the pom-pom stick. What is that?

1.) Is a Berretta Tomcat .32 auto

2.) Shiv works neck knife. You wear it as shown, it is a "last ditch" kind of weapon, but conceals well. Other make them. Colombia River and Kbar have good ones.

3.) Pepper Spray Ring. Has about a 2 second burst.

4.) "weak hand knife" clips into your back pocket or front pocket, you probably have one already.

5.) Credit Card Knife. Goes in your bill fold, or money clip.

6.) Kubotan key ring... You use it as a mace, with the keys on one end and the steel rod on the other, you can also use it as a regular kubotan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kubotan They have all of the "training" videos for those, but most people would prefer to use them as pictured above. They have combo pepper spray batons that would work really well too and can be used also for the same purpose as the kubotan.

7.) The pen knife is a real pen as well. Again, just insurance.

A lot of this material can be found at http://www.selfdefenseproducts.com/ I have bought from them before, neat stuff they have.

Anyway, in Texas, in the summer it gets so freaking hot, that about all I can carry is the Berretta .32. Sometimes I carry "more gun" but "more gun" is harder to conceal by far than the little tomcat...

I also saw the movie Zodiac, about the Zodiac killer... Watch it... kind of chilling and while your at it, watch vacancy. Good movies both, they kind of make you rethink your CHL patterns a little. I decided I am going to try to have a weapon so that no matter where my hands are, I can use it... May all be junk, but any edge is a good edge.

Anyway, I agree I have my Gun, my knife and OC. All this other crap weighs nothing, costs nothing and is just insurance if it ever so happens that I need it. Nothing wrong with that. Everyday, I take everything out, put it on my valet, next day, put everything back. It is a habit now and I KNOW that they are there and were they are. Also, if a place is a NO GUN ALLOWED place, you are still "armed" so to speak as most of this crap is legal.

Mad Max, here I come!
