Friend with gun in bank

It was really nice when Wells Fargo took over Wachovia, as all the gunbuster signs came down. I don't go to the bank a lot, but I OC when I do.

I did have someone try to tell me once that all banks are federal property. Um, no, genius. Having an FDIC sign in the window doesn't make you Federal.

A bank that wouldn't allow legal carry guns wouldn't have my business.

+1

Two places I always carry are the bank and the liquor store, both have a reputation for attracting criminal types.

I find it interesting that our local post office took down the no guns sign from the door last year.

I couldn't help but laugh at this post. It sounds the crocodiles from my favorite comic, Pearls Before Swine. Ironic...

The OP's friend needs some education. I don't think name calling and yelling for the guy to have his guns taken away and his CCW revoked are productive responses. Yes, he panicked and did something dumb. Nothing bad happened and if he learns from it then all will be well! :)
Fine if he learns from this episode but I bet he never gets a holster and continues carrying in his pocket. I see to much of this from people that carry, you have to have common sense and proper equipment.

I'd bet anyone money he still doesn't have a proper holster by his next episode. And then we wonder why gun owners take a bad rap, it's the few.

Carrying in a bank is not prohibited at any federal level. It might be in some states. (The bank posting "no guns" signs is a different issue.) Banks are private property. Just because the funds within are FDIC insured doesn't make them federal buildings.

I've carried my MP5 PDW in the HK briefcase into my bank more than once. And I never go there without at least my sidearm.

Why would bank people care that ccw holder has gun at the premises if he/she does not intend to rob them? I can understand why guns should not be allowed into places that serve alcohol, but a bank? Guns and alcohol :eek:are a LOCO combination!

WOW, sure are a lot of know all the facts critics who ASSume they know the facts.
1st-Entire round trip in and out of bank took less than 10 seconds. This is a small country bank with no other customers in the parking lot or the bank.
2nd-the gun was unloaded before putting on top of said tire under the wheel well OUT OF SIGHT.
All the X-PERTS (drips under pressure) need to get a life and lighten up.

Enough of this.

Lessons:
1) Know the law...like, for real.
2) Be mindful of what you're about.
3) Don't panic and let your adrenaline make your decisions for you.
