They say true writers can't help but write - years and years ago I was a programmer. No matter what else I do, I still end up working with them. Of course, it's different when you get to pick your projects... :)

Reading books, movies, getting into the art of bonsai, and bloodbowl. I also enjoy going to Hip Hop shows, spoken word events, and riding my bike.

My most expensive hobby is girls. Got to love the young dumb college girls. ;)

ARE THERE NO PAINTBALLERS HERE?!

When I was a kid (14-16 years old) growing up around the bayous of Dickinson, Texas, close to Galveston and the Gulf of Mexico, we used to have BB gun wars, where anything was fair game. We wore welders masks, two winter coats, steyrofoam life preservers, boots and two pairs of pants. We used pump BB rifles. By rule, one pump was the maximum but you would often hear guys pumping 5 or 6 times before they shot you while you were on the run in the open and they had the advantage.

That was the most fun I've ever had in my life. We would dive in the bayou ditches to avoid being shot, and ambushes were hell on the other team. I have a few BB-sized scars from those times, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I can never view paintballers with any seriousness after that. If you want to be real men, use BB guns.

bass fishing
fly fishing (mountain lakes/streams)
ocean fishing
beginner woodworking
gardening (includes lots of weeding)
reading (american history mostly)
mild 4-wheeling/exploring with my Jeep in the mountains
golf (sometimes)
movies

hmmm...is this too many hobbies

and the most important of all hobbies...watching my one-day shooting partner, 11-month old girl discovering the world around her.:)

Far too many hobbies for me. Photography, cooking, too many electronic toys to count, music, movies (love NetFlix), camping, fishing, traveling, my cats (I spoil them), and more I'm sure that I'm forgetting at the moment. I was into a cherry '87 Pontiac Fiero GT and a '03 Honda FSC600 SilverWing, but I sold those last year. It would be quite a stretch to connect any of those to shooting, but I'm sure some weirdo would try.

I'll try:

Which of your guns could you NOT easily fit into the Fiero? Passenger seat does not count.

And did you ever affix a rifle scabbard to the Honda?

Aside from firearms I like other inexpensive hobbies like golf, surfing, and cars. They are all real easy on the wallet.

Collecting knives and firearms/hunting literature. Bird/wildlife watching, tree planting, digital photography, hiking, listening to talk radio, etc. I hunt, but I don't consider it a hobby.

Firearms and Aviation. That's about it. I will talk to you all day either about guns or flying.

Over the summer of 2005, I had worked and saved up about $1200. The plan was to get either a Garand or an M1A. Of course, my father, a commercial rated pilot, suggested that I get my pilots license. So now, here I sit, with a private pilot certificate, and no battle rifle. I did, however, collect a 10/22, Mosin-Nagant, and an 870 along the way.

And spent a hell of a lot of money, too.

Oh, I like to read, too. About guns and flying, of course.

I love these threads. That more proof do you need that the "gun culture" isn't? There are a diverse set of people out there who enjoy firearms.

As for me, I like hiking, reading, and going on dumb adventures.

I am also interested in African history, biology, industry and aviation.

Hunting - (Shotgun, Blackpowder, Archery)
Fishing - (Mostly Freshwater)
Auto Racing - (NASCAR, WoO, Local Short Tracks)
PC Sim Racing
Home Improvement - (Sort of a necessity but I enjoy it.)
Lawn & Garden/Landscaping - (Again, sort of a necessity but I enjoy it.)

Lusting over dual-sports that I am too scared to buy.

Not having much time for any of them d/t being a medical resident. And not buying the motorcycle for fear of ending up like our trauma patients. Although admittedly, they're usually drunk and/or helmetless/gearless.

the Original Poster got a few right for me:

... I'd think many of you are also into:

-Martial arts
-Cars
-Motorcycles
-Guitars
-Cigars/tobacco

Motorcycles and Cigars are definates for me. Formerly I was into cars, the muscle car era.

coin collecting was a long-time hobby, but not so much anymore.

Edit: I love reading also, but don't consider it a "hobby" , but apparantly many people here do, so I'll add it.

I like most anything with 4 wheels; currently working on a 1971 Nova, an 1998 Dodge diesel 4x4 (performance), Dixie Chopper mower, Grizzly 4 wheeler, etc. I work on networks for a living, so not a hobby, but I do spend considerable time with computers. Like to fish in my spare time, and some trap shooting when I can get to the range.

cars (BMWs)
motorcycles (82 cb900f)
hunting
camping/outdoors
brewing beer/wine
listening to scanner
black&white photography
gardening (cactus and succulents)

I go on and off with most of my hobbies. Right now I'm really into guns and hunting (after a long hiatus) as well as scanning. Camping and outdoor activites (kayak/rafting, etc) I'm always into.
