Florida 's got it right. Bravo for Sheriff Judd!!!

POLK COUNTY FLORIDA SHERIFF GRADY JUDD

Some "dirtbag" in Polk County Florida who got pulled over in a routine traffic stop ended up "executing" the deputy who stopped him. The deputy was shot eight times, including once behind his right ear at close range.
Another deputy was wounded and a police dog kill ed.
A statewide manhunt ensued.
The offender was found hiding in a wooded area with his gun. SWAT team officers fired and hit the guy 68 times.
Now here's the question:
Naturally, the media asked why they shot him 68 times. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, told the Orlando Sentinel:

"That's all the bullets we had!"
(Talk about an all time classic answer!!!)

To me it reads like someone shot an officer seven times then executed him while he was down, also it doesn't indicate whether or not the wounded officer and killed K-9 were shot at the same time or after, when they found him in the woods. I say good going!

I screwed up. I missed the part about the manhunt occuring after the inital shootings.

The suspect was found hiding in a wooded area and was engaged at close contact after he apparently failed to obey orders to show his hands, and even made a 'furtive' movement with said hands. Also, the Deputy who initiated the stop was wounded. The K9 Handler and K9 were killed during the initial search shortly after the first Deputy was shot.

I'm glad the Sheriff had his boys' back, and that his boys shot the piece of crap 68 times... But it deeply saddening that 3 Deputies didn't make it home like they left.
