I passed on a stainless takedown 358 2 years ago and I'm still regretting that

I regret that too......Id know who to pester for one!

Honestly, i dont really care WHAT the BLRs chambered for i just want the gun....add a BPR, and id have a set with my BAR Mk2.
For all the weight tho, im fairly sure id prefer a heavy chambering.

I need to locate some of that carbon strands and try to make a barrel someday, I think it could do some on a lathe turned by hand. Use the threading screw as a level line like a fishing real to go back and forth, a tensioner would be easy to make. Just have to find what resin to used and I don't think you have to vacuum like normal since the tight wrap will do that.

I believe much like carbon fiber arrows they've got lengthwise strands as well as radial strands. That woven layer on top Im pretty sure is just there for decoration.

The proof and other barrels look like they might be using chopped carbon put into a mold and compressed onto the barrel liner, then ground to profile.

I'm not really sure what kind of resin you would use for that sort of work.... You would want something that didn't add a ton of weight but it had good strength, thermal stability and flex.
I kind of wonder what creating a phenolic resin sleeve over a highend steel liner would do in terms of accuracy..... Also not sure what substrate you would use for the phenolic I know most of it's something like cellulose.... Or I think it is anyway....

I saw a Christensen at Cabelas in Allen, TX yesterday... I had no idea what one was.
They aren't super common. Out here they have developed a following tho, I know of 3 Ridgelines, and at least one Traverse in use, and one of the stores that actually stocks them seems to move them pretty quick.

They used to be in the semi-custom price range, but with their price drop, more and more factory guns going for close two 2k and the Mesas being available for around 1200-1500 (which is in the high "middle" price range now), they are becoming more and more common.

Thanks, I really like the 7mm08 weight is nice to, just really wish they had a locking bolt.

Went today to a nicer small sporting goods store about 35 miles away they had the same as your ridgeline used for $1100 forgot to check what cartridge tho. It looked brand new tho.

Another shop had a very nice savage 110E in 243 for $299 I should have maybe offered $250 the birch or whatever the wood was looked fine but rather be walnut or synthetic.

I hear you on the lack of a locking bolt. Hunting public land here in Western Colorado involves a significant amount of oak brush, choke cherry “trees” (actually not a tree but rather a shrub species created by Lucifer), and other various vegitative entanglements. Locking bolt or nothing for me as well.

Some hunters have never had a bolt open, me I've had them open a few times in one day even when sling my gun to my shoulder. Locking bolts should be standard,

Ive had or seen it happen a couple times now....Obviously still not super critical for me, but id pay a bit extra to get it on a design I liked. I may see if I cant retrofit a locking tab to the X-mark Ive got on my 70s era 700....Ive been waffling on switching that to a TT Primary like the rest of my 700 types carry, but so far its worked just fine.
