Got some rounds loaded to night.
145 speed bthp match bullets over rl-16 (of which i used my last...so im praying this isn't THE powder for the gun)
145 Speer bthp match bullets over Staball. Numbers look fantastic on paper, looking forward to seeing what it does IRL.
120 Nosler SBTs (pre ballistic tip) over Staball. Only have 5 of these just to chrono.

What I did notice, is I've depleted my supply of medium size cartridge powders pretty severely. Ive got a little 17 left and 2 lbs of staball.....hopefully I can find some more this weekend, but powders been going out pretty quick lately. Might have to "pick" one and just load hunting ammo for now.

What barrel twist does your new rifle have?
You mentioned the 139 SSTs is that the bullet weight you hope to use?
1-9
Well....my monkey brain said "120s would awsome!" My adult brain said "shoot the pile of 150s and 160s youve got" and my gun nut brain said "shoot them all!"

So quite honestly, ive got no real plan.......

I think shooting them all to find the sweet ones is the way to go! With the 7mm-08 they will all work on the medium size.

Nice Rifle for sure. 7-08 is all I use these days for hunting and range duty. The 6.5 is all the rage these days but I have not even pondered getting one because the 7-08 does all things well. Those 120 and 140 BTs are accurate as can be all day long. I've got one of my 7-08s out right now getting a new custom tube put on her. I really like the 120 and 140 SGKs as well for hunting because the BTs seated to the sweet spot were a tad to long for the magazine. Enjoy the new tool...

Beautiful rifle. As an old curmudgeon I stick to my 30-06 caliber I've hunted for over half a century. But if I ever changed my way like when hell freezes over I would choose the 7mm-08. Man what a beautiful rifle, makes me want to go get one. The 7mm-08 will take elk down easily too.

I have some 120s if you want to try, can't remember at the moment tho think I have some nosler boattails. I should send you so e 175 round nose I always wanted to compare them to high bc bullet.
Thanks for the offer! There were some 120 spitzer's in that box from bandit, I just forgotten about them when I posted.
I have five or six of those loaded up right now.... Five....

The only similar comparison I've done that I can remember, was a while ago my buddy and I had the 30-06 he bought from me and the 7.7 ari I've given to him at the range at the same time.
I don't believe we chronograph the loads he was using in them, but with imr4895 he was using, I guess velocities between the 165 spitzer boat tails, and 174 grain round nose the arisaka was shooting we're both probably around 2600-2750fps.

0 Dead on at 100, there was a noticeable difference in drop and drift on the 300-yard target, with 174 is clean missing the box if they were fired into a gust.

I had some 175 grade SGK boat tails, I don't think I still have them, I think I gave them away, But if I can find a few that would be as close to an apples to apples comparison as I think one could come up with.

While i think bronze and pink would look pretty sexy....you know like maybe a hot pink stock with louis vuitton emblem pattern in bronze?
Im happy with the way this one looks right now, dont see any reason to "adjust" it......yet:D
The stock pattern looks like a Jackson Pollack abstract. Really cool. Beautiful rifle. It looks cool with the brake if nothing else. Probably makes it louder than need be. My compact feels and sounds like an '06 with 150's, 120's are very tame.

They are nice rifles and a piece of music wire will do a trigger job on one. I detest triggers with blades
Im ok with the trigger blocking ones, but unless im actively thinking about getting my finger on the trigger straight, and pulling it straight back, i often drop the accutrigger on its safety blade......sucks when ive actually managed to sneak up on something.....
