And I am addicted to reloading.

I was just putting together some loads for my new 300 win mag and not only do I not have scope for it yet, but I would not even have time to shoot them since I am trying to finish up my student teaching. I just could not help my self. Not only that but I went ahead and loaded up some of my free Hornady bullets for my 308. The sad thing is that by the time I know which load works the best, I will be out of bullets and powder. But if I ever decide I want to load some 150 grainers again I guess I will know what works.

I am trying to get where I only have one bullet for the 308 and the 300 win mag and only one powder for each. I am hoping that the 300 likes a a165 grain bullet according to Hornady's book I will still need two different powders.:(

I have pretty good luck using both 168 gr and 200 gr bullets with either IMR4350 or H4350. The lighter bullets can use a faster powder like IMR3031 but for the most part if you want anice clean round for your 300 win mag use what I do... I love it and it's very consistent as far as velocities goes. I' ve loaded up almost 200 rounds now of 65 gr H4350 pushing the 200 gr Sierra MatchKing HP's and they vary about 15'/sec is all at the most. Of course I do a lot of case prep too, probably twice as much case prep as most reloaders do for the average round.
With these loads I can easily achieve a 3" group at 550 yards.
The IMR4350 takes a little more, like 72gr so don't get the two mixed up. I'm getting ready to load up some super accurate long range rounds, complete with neck wall trim, case OAL trim and set-back differences with the 168gr A-MAX bullets.

I feel your pain, grubbylabs. I,too, have become addicted to reloading and am having to deal with the same frustrations of trying to find that round that works best in my gun. So many choices...so little time. Just finished up loading some 180gr 357 rounds...my first time with the heavier bullet. So,my name is_____ and I'm addicted to reloading. Hey,love hurts!

My name is Eddie and I am an addict. I have been an addict since 1974 and see no cure in sight.

Hi my name is Bob and I am addicted to reloading: I will put a rifle on layaway and then order the brass, dies, powder and bullets before I even make the final payment on the firearm. It has been a while since I bought any factory loads.

Hello,, My name is Jeff. I am addicted to reloading. I decide which caliber I want to reload then buy the firearm to match.

Hello my name is Steve :) I addicted to reloading If I buy a gun I've got to have all the reloading stuff to go along with it . 13 calibers and counting

Hello my name is Rick and I have been shooting (with help) since I was 4 and reloading since I was 5 (with help). That will be 54+ years.:D And I have it BAD. I have been known to wake up in the middle of the night with an idea, run to the reloading room, fire up the computer to check a load, and then load a series before going back to bed.:what:

Hi, my name is O C and I can quit any time I want to. Why, last year I quit 7 times, so, I'm not addicted. You guys need help.

Hi my name is Weed and I am addicted to reloading. I have done the same as Blackrock, 9 times in the last 6 years. I forsee no help or cure in my future. As a matter of fact I think my wife really doesn't care if I get help or not. See I am never in the bar, chaseing other women, wanting to buy this or that for the house, go to parties, you get the picture. RELOADING equiptment or componets only! (Maybe a firearm once in a while)

I DON"T HAVE A PROBLEM. I do it because I like it. I only do it to relax. It's just something to do on the weekends. I would just spend the money on other things anyhow.
I was just putting together some loads for my new 300 win mag and not only do I not have scope for it yet
I'll say you have a problem! You bought a gun that without having any loads made for it? :what:

I collected brass that I have no use for. I started putting .243 & .270 Win to the side. I though I might get a .243 someday but have no plan of getting a .270 but I bought dies, trim gauges, & bullets for both. I went the other day & bought 2 .243. I have some loads worked up for the .243s & the .270. The .270 loads still need proper depth of the bullet set but that is hard to do without the rifle.

See I don't have a problem or I would be trying the set the COL without even having the rifle. :neener:

I need to go tumble some cases though.

There is not a cure, because no one wants to be cured. Therein lies the problem.

I have been known to wander around the reloading room needing a fix, just wishing there was something to load, and trying to dream up something to reload.

I decide which caliber I want to reload then buy the firearm to match.
I've done that.

If I buy a gun I've got to have all the reloading stuff to go along with it
Well duh. :D

The only reason I was able to load some rounds was that I have been picking up and sorting brass at the range all summer. But ya I bought the dies I had the powder and bullets on hand. The only reason I have not shot the gun yet is because I can't afford the scope yet. Paying for day care and school are higher priorities. Other wise I would have picked up a scope for it the day I got it along with a box of ammo.

There is still hope for you guys. I hit rock bottom when I realized I was out shooting one day just so I would have empty brass to load.

Paying for day care and school are higher priorities
Everyone understands that. I remember those days well. My budget was much tighter. I used to scrounge free wheel weights, recover lead bullets at the range, buy the cheapest bullets and powder, and rarely get a new (to me) gun.

My last three scopes were ones on sale. Half to almost half off. *yea*

They call me a "tighta**" and tease me at work. Well, maybe I am, just a little. :)

Hi, my name is Jim, and I'm an addict. Imagine buying a new rifle, so new that there was no loading info, no brass, and only one set of dies, and one box of factory ammo. The rifle was the first 300 WSM to hit the local gunshop. Winchester came out with 3 loads for 760 powder, so I could at least load some of the fired factory loads I had fired.

Try buying a mold, brass, and dies, then loading shells for a gun you don't even own. I WILL get to fire some, it's a 500 S&W magnum, owned by my daughters BF. I have the lee 440 501 mold, it makes a fine bullet. I'm waiting for a group buy for a Mihec brass cramer style mold for the 700 grand canyon bullet.

I've had this addiction since 1963, I have no plans on getting treated, I don't want a cure. Pardon me, I have to go load some 310's for the 44 mag!

If the snow ever melts, I'll get out to do some shooting. AC I don't want to hear how it's already in the 70's down by you!:neener:

I was stuffing some .357 cases last night around around 11:00 or so, when my Son and my Daught in law who were passing by my reloading room, stopped just long enough to leave me with their carry weapons, hey Dad since your still up, would you give these a cleaning and ammunition swap. Just leave them on our dresser when your done. In my home, the addiction is an accepted and normal state of mind. I know you are some what joking about having an addiction, but as hobbies go, reloading and all associated with it is an unresistably fun and exciting recreational activity for those of us involved in it. I'm lucky because my family is collectively involved in the shooting sports, even the children. One of my younger Grandchildren who is 3 1/2 is safer handling a gun, than many of the adults I've encountered on a normal weekend day at the shooting range.

Hello, my name is Jeff & I'm addicted to reloading.

Several years ago a box of .357 ammo followed me home & I didn't own a .357 at the time (I own 2 now)

About 6 months ago a bag of 45 Colt brass followed me home, same thing, I didn't own a 45 at the time (I own 2 now)

But it beats spending my money at the bar or some other health depleting addiction. :D

It can get worse. I once bought a complete progressive press set up with dies that I did not own a gun for. The dies were not 7/8 14, so they couldnt be readily changed. I just thought huh, I need to go shopping for a .45 LC. So I did.........

I'm not addicted - just OLD - old reloader that is!

Did I miss anything - memory is not as good as it use to be - because I'm the OLDMAN.

ps - Don't start a post about how many presses do you own!

My name is John. I've been addicted for 3 months, and I've already bought a second press even though I've only had time to load and shoot 75 rounds in the last 3 months. Already looking for more guns so I can reload for them.

I don't think I have a problem like the rest of you do. :) I mean a few weeks ago, I went for an entire week without so much as sizing or seating a single piece of brass or bullet. Of course, I was out of town that whole week. The first couple days were pretty tough. Sweaty palms, dry mouth, etc. And once in awhile my hand an arm would make an involuntary motion as if grasping a non-existent press arm. Other than that, it wasn't so bad, so I know I don't have a problem.

I was very relieved when one of my business colleagues bought a rifle chambered in .270 Win last fall. I don't have a rifle in that cartridge. I have a .270 WSM though, so I have a ton of bullets that will work. And somehow I have managed to acquire a couple hundred pieces of once-fired .270 brass. Now, I will actually be able to do a good deed and let him come over and participate in loading up some cheap deluxe ammo. I found a use for all that great brass and I'm doing a good deed for my fellow man. That there is doing my part for the environment as well as being compassionate for the less fortunate folks. Certainly not an addiction.
