I drank the Kool-Aid myself and snapped up the first P-229 Legion in 9mm I saw locally, after regretfully passing on a P-226 SAO Legion previously. Not $1500 either, although local prices have gone up about $100 since the first Legions hit the shelves.
In my judgement, my Legion is easily the best, most accurate semi-auto 9mm production pistol I've ever, ever shot -- with a simply phenomenal trigger (even the DA pull is close to an old S&W revolver with a sweet DA pull). The ergonomics are spectacular, the gun points well and the grip is an awesome fit for just about anyone's hands.
Only downside of buying one was that I had to fulfill the promise to my wife to pick her up a (new model) P-225 (A1) ... which I've also discovered is
the coolest single-stack nine ever made. For the purists, the naysayers and the haters, here's news: the new P-225 is also a superb pistol and light-years ahead of the old 225.
What does it do that my CZ 75 can't do for 600?
Well, there's that pesky notion of what constitutes a great DA/SA trigger (and SIG's Grayguns trigger on the Legion
is that good, possibly better than advertised). Then there's ergonomics, as much of a CZ-lover that I am, it's still a honkin' big pistol for many. The Legion's sights are a substantial upgrade to anything CZ's ever put out, and finally, there's the accuracy, and my Legion is markedly more accurate than my two CZ-75s or for that matter, any of the numerous CZ pistols I've ever used.
