very, very nice

have you shot it yet? what are you planning to do with it?

I bought it brand new w/o barrel and added my own barrel which I had posted specs of before. And AW's come in 4 different lengths BTW
Purchased it last time I was in London for a business trip

you mean Ghillie dont you?
And I wasnt a sniper i was an armorer. I fixed what they broke.

ACBMWM3 no insult was intended and you are correct my typo
Per. FM 23-10 page 4-4 figure 4-1 "Ghillie suit"

So nice tool good shooting

Since some are questioning the OPs words. He mentions that he has an "Authentic AI with a Ultra match air gauged CM 4140 black steel barrel.
NIKON TACTICAL 2.5-10X44"

As far as I can tell from the picture, it is a US Optics scope and not a Nikon. In any case most of us can only dream of owning a true AI. I had to settle for a 5R with AICS.

well they took my photo down because it violates there terms of use...

Who is "THEY" and how did it violate "the terms of use"? Since it's supposedly your rifle, and supposedly a genuine AI (I questioned that at the start of thread), all you have to do is take a photo of the action and bolt and post it .... EASY, end of discussion.

aubie515, I don't think you "settled" for anything. The Accuracy International rifles are phenomenal, but for civilians, the AICS is the WAY to go if you're looking for value for money. Each of my two COMPLETE systems cost less than an AWM without ANY extras such as the base, rings, scope, bipod, magazines etc. Also, I could easily use the same epoxy that AI uses to permanently bond the action to the AICS ... this is what AI does so that their rifles can pass the "drop" test. Now if I were planning on repelling out of a helicopter or scaling a cliff, or parachuting into a mountainous region then HECK YEAH I want an AWM!! :D

Here are my two ... let's see if the moderators take these photos down ...

What kind of barrels are those 1858? And are those Leupold mark 4's?

Krieger barrels with MTU contour (1.25" OD for 2.75" with straight taper to 0.93" OD at muzzle), 1:10 twist, 4 lands, 10 flutes @ 3/16", 26" long.

Scopes are both Leupold Mark 4s, the .300 Win Mag has an 8.5-25x and the .308 Win has a 6.5-20x, both have the illuminated TMR reticles.

imageshack. according to there terms of use weapons are prohibited...

Well that sucks!! Just attach the image to your post and host it on THR server.

I just want to add a couple of comments that may be of interest to anyone thinking of building an AICS clone in .308 Win (or .300 Win Mag). First off, a muzzle break is totally unnecessary on a .308 Win in the AICS. The felt recoil is significantly reduced by the weight of the stock, so much so that I can see the bullets hitting the target when shooting the .308 and I never lose sight of the target. This is NOT the case with the .300 Win Mag in that I ALWAYS lose sight of the target once I pull the trigger. A muzzle break on a .308 will simply add a lot of noise (and upset other shooters) with minimal benefit. The recoil in the .300 Win Mag with the AICS is also greatly reduced to the extend that I could shoot all day, hundreds of rounds, without any discomfort whatsoever.
