This is my new carry rig:
XD subcompact .40 in a Galco thumb-snap holster and Swiss Gear belt.
It rides very comfortably, far more so than expected. I did as many of you have sugested and spent the money on a more expensive holster the first time and got a thick, tough belt. I am glad I did. I will just be wearing it around the house for now to get used to carrying, and will apply for my permit (already took the required class) once I know if I am relocating or not.

To where are you considering moving?

Colorado no longer acknowledges out-of-state permits for Colorado residents, but that doesn't mean that a Colorado permit wouldn't be just fine as a resident of the state to which you may be moving. It's something to look into...

Carrying around the house is a good idea. You'll discover many of the problems you may have with the logistics of carrying, and you'll be more comfortable with the idea once you do start carrying. Nice rig. The high-ride should be easy to conceal.

very nice, i love the xd sc's, i used to own, one and my daily carry is a sa xd service model. accurate reliable, and easy to shoot. i am not a fan of thumb break holsters however but if that is what works for you. thanks for sharing.

Nice looking holster...

but you could do better with the belt. Get a wider belt if u can. A wider belt thats rightly fit to the loop to your holster can be more comfortable.

Primarily a jacket for this set up (it is still cold and snowy out here), maybe a long shirt, but I doubt it. I have an LCP for pocket carry in the summer.
