I promised I'd post here when I got it.

http://www.kgproducts.com/HANDIBAGS.html

This is the Handi-Bag. The site is sorely lacking, so I just took the plunge for the product. I bought it mostly for mountain biking, hiking, fishing and the like.
1)Its made of heavy duty nylon. What struck me most was the beefy zippers and buckles.
2) despite its high-mounting hooks, it sits pretty securely against my waist with one strap around my belt and one across my chest.
3) the 'holster' is a deep pouch with a velcro closure and a stiff flap, and has an indent in the middle. Kind of hard to explain, but my PT145 fell right into place. I might consider using a pocket holster if a smaller gun finds its way into the holster, though.
4) It has one real large pocket that could accomodate all kinds of stuff (like a first aid kit) with a partition at the bottom and a smaller ID size pocket in it, a small front pocket that could fit a camera, reloads, or such. The pistol pouch is good up to a medium framed handgun easily, and I fit my PT145 and a mag in it.
Suggestions for the mfg:
When I get the chance to shoot them an email, I think it could use a belt slot to increase mounting options, as well as some loops or pouches for a mini mag and pens and such.

PANTS AND SHIRT - SAME THING - CAPACITY

At Haband, famous for mail order sales, and also have a website, I found 11-pocket "travel" pants and 4-pocket guyabera-style shirts. These are all various colors and with or without zippers, etc.. Only guns I own that the pants pockets can't accomodate are the Mauser broomhandle C-96 (HUGE guns) and Cobray 11 with 32rd mag and surpressor on board.

These pants don't have the big, clunky syle of the "cargo" pants. I wear 'em to work (sans weaponry), for everyday wear and shopping - here there's ALWAYS some kind of hardware on board. Plenty of room for extra mags, ammo, etc. for that trip to the range.

The pockets of the guyabera shirts are adequate in size for my 1934 Beretta .380, all my .25acps, but .32acps are a bit crowded. This is a shirt most Cubans recognize at a glance, seems it originated there.

All these are in the $15 to $20 range and serve double duty for me.

I can see the utility but it screams I HAVE A GUN!! to me.

On a hike or mountain bike ride I think it will just look like a camera/junk case. Especially when I pull my digicam out of the front pocket to snap shots, or a granola bar out for a snack.

For everyday carry, I'm all about IWB. But I'm short on solutions for carry while flyfishing, hiking, or cycling. Even if it screams gun, I'm more worried about 4 legged predators than two in these scenerios. Lions and tigers and bears, oh my.... (we have Mountain lions and bears here).

Actually, I'm not a member, but have contributed to PP in the past, as well as JFPO and GOA.
You?

Those clothes sound nice, but I'm usually done up like this when I go mountain biking:

I would say that this bag wouldn't be out of place at all.

Actually, my wife and I both go to the local chapter's meetings once in a while. Nice people. And they completely mess up the lefties' ideas about gun owners and the righties prejudices about queers.

Actually, I was reading another thread where someone (Herself, I think) was listing the various and sundry useful items she toted about in her purse. I must confess to a bit of "purse envy" here. It was so much easier when I was in college and carrying a backpack everywhere was viewed as normal. A well stocked manpurse is basically another version of a BOB.

I've been considering either a messengers bag or one of he old school Army surplus courier bags. And I always liked the bag Corso carried in "The Ninth Gate."

HEY, JamisJocky, I FORGOT TO MENTION...

Haband also has the 11-pocket pants in a shortened version. Like the shorts I'm wearing right now. These have 6 HUGE pockets. However, because I've inhabited this 3rd Rock for more than 7 decades, smoking 4 packs of RJReynolds finest each day for 5 decades, inexplicably, I've in the last few years suffered from (AND BEATEN) the following: colon cancer, emphysema, a couple of heart attacks, pancreatitus, and ALL kinds of joint problems. Ergo, my "mountain biking" is done aboard an old M Edition Miata, my "hiking" is a couple days visiting a large gun show with MANY stops to view various weaponry, "camping out" is done in a time share resort. Thank goodness I was able to get rid of all the wilderness wandering out of my system by living in the wilds of British Columbia for 18 years. Glacial-fed rivers to ford, grizzlies and mountain lions for traveling companions, loose shale mountsides covered with ice and snow to traverse - lots of excercise and adventure. Wouldn't have missed it for the world. Enjoy the great outdoors in whatever form you can, for as long as you can.

Shhh! Now everyone will want one! I'm gonna blame that darn Indiana Jones. At least, boys, promise you won't try to match your shoes? ;)

...I didn't always stock quite such an assortment of items in my purse. I do technical work and picked up the habit from male co-workers, many of whom use either a small fanny pack or a fisherman-type vest for that purpose. (Recent addition: Blackblack gum, a Japanese import: about one coffee-cup worth of caffiene and a hit of niacin [one of the B vitamins] in every stick. Mild mood elevator/stimulant, very handy at times).

The fanny packs and utility bags many men carry don't look especially purse-like to me. I'm thinkin' there's a little effort taken along those lines. The ones intended for carry have some very useful features, like provision for seat-belt mounting, that my carry purses lack.

Oh snap!

Ya know, just when I think I am a pretty open minded guy, someone mentions something like the "murse" and I realize I still have some irrational prejudices.

I bet once I get a CCW, my attitude will change. Better alive than manly. Probably won't call it a "murse" though.

That handi-bag would about a zillion times cooler if you could get "Canon" or "Nikon" printed on the side. It'd also help the illusion. Looks useful, though, and still more manly than a fanny-pack.

Hi No_Brakes23:

I've long been a proponent of camouflaging legal firearms in plain sight. It helps to keep the irrational sheeple calm. Your suggestion for a "Nikon" or "Canon" patch sewn over the flap would be a perfect solution.

This is the same thing can be done with the Wilderness Safepacker shown below. Simply hang a pair of bright yellow earphones through the straps and one has essentially transformed the evil gun holster into a chipper and happy portable CD-player...

Gentlemen....there is a thing called messenger bag. Its big, flat and comfy and does not resemble a teeny tiny purse that your wife would want to carry. For the sake of all things Holy, get one before you're tempted to paint your nails.

Although the name "shoulder bag" gets iffy....but it IS smaller.

A messenger bag doesn't quite fit into my needs. Its not as secure as the smaller "murse" and I need to be able to wear a Camelbak. The primary mission of my "murse" is for mountain biking and hiking.
I'm headed to Saint George this weekend for two days of mountain biking in the sun, I'll have a full report on the "murse's" performance after that.
