I have been wanting one of these for a while but internet horror stories of accuracy has kept me from it. If you could post a range review with accuracy results I sure would appreciate it.

Beautiful rifle btw

I use the same exact rifle for feral hog removal. I wouldn't call my experience a "horror story" but I also wouldn't call the mini-14 or mini-30 a very accurate rifle. 2" groups at 100 yards are common. Sometimes 2.5"-3" and sometimes better than 2" but usually about 2. This is using a low power scope and Hornady SST factory steel case ammo.

I always thought I'd like one, but the poor accuracy reports earlier discouraged me. Since then, I don't have a need or desire for a centerfire semi-auto rifle.

I didn't hear about it on the internet, I've seen it with my own unfiltered eyeballs. Interested to see the results here. They say the newer mini 14's shoot well but have not seen any reports on the 30's.

Your right, I made it all up just to mislead strangers on the internet.

It's not a precision rifle. It was never meant to be. I've never had any problem using mine firing offhand at ranges around 100 years to control nuisance animals around the farm.

Some time ago I was thinking of building a semi-auto rifle based on the design of a down-sized M1 or M1a and firing a round in something like the 6.5mm or 7mm Mauser.

Then I heard of the Mini 30 and dropped the whole idea.
Ruger made the Mini-14 in 6.8 SPC for awhile. I read somewhere that they discontinued it, but you might be able to find a used one.

My mini-30 was brand new 2 years ago. Still not what I would consider an "accurate" rifle but then I'm used to bolt action MOA accuracy too.

I'd be curious if the Accu-strut improves the new Mini-30' accuracy.
Also curious how the new Min-30's work with Communist Ammo.

I have new Mini-14 tactical that I outfitted with a click adjustable rear sight from Tech Sights. Accuracy is almost on par with a run of the mill, $500 AR.
Since this pic, I've added an Accu-Strut. Will need to get out to a formal range and see if there was any accuracy improvement.

Note I had a Ranch Rifle during the AW ban that had crap for accuracy. Soccer ball sized groups. The Tactical is way more accurate than that old one.

drobs - very nice, are those after market sights or did they come with the gun?

This is my Mini 14. Been contemplating getting a matching Mini 30.
