You'd have won your bet! I was very impressed over the looks and feel of Ruger's new 1911 (it took about ten minutes of waiting in line before I finally got my mitts on it but it was well worth the wait). I think Ruger has a real winner here. I know I simply have to have one.

I was, figured you would be.

I've been wondering about the tall Novak sights that are new for this gun. I'm not an NFA guy, but were they made tall enough to be compatible with a suppressor?

That is one sweet 1911. From your report and Michael Bane's video, the SR1911 looks like a winner - tight and really well made.

I was considering a Springfield Mil-Spec, but think I will go with the Ruger instead, especially considering that the Ruger is 100 percent made in the USA.

Thanks for the report.

I asked about this and was told they are the same height, was also told that Wayne did some redesigning just for this pistol.

Interesting. They look taller to me, but it could just be a different profile.

BTW, you've done a good job with your T&E sample. You certainly have me wanting one.

If you look at the picture of the rear of the sight, you can see that the relationship between the firing pin, base of the sight, dots, bottom of the notch and top of the sight are the same. What makes it appear taller is that the taper is steeper and there is the added kink in the top surface.

Unless that angle is more pronounced than it looks, it appears that Novak did not address the major weakness of his current design...the inability to used the sight body to rack the slide one-handed

I am in the market for my first 1911. I think this will be it, though I may wait for a model with a rail.

I just got back from my local gun shop with mine. It sure feels good in my hand and is nicer looking than the pictures show it to be to.

10-8 Performance makes sights with that ability to fit a lomont rear (as well as other cuts).

Got to see one at the Ruger Exhibit at the Convention. I thought it was very well made and felt great. Will look at getting one if they stay in my price range.

Your right I couldnt rack mine with one hand. I did put about 50 rounds of mixed ammo through it today WWB fmj ,WWB hollow points. Hornady XTP's and Hornady Critical Defense everything cycled and fired flawlessly.

Down payment and order for my new SR1911

Just gave $50 deposit on a SR1911 for $650. I believe I have a 4 to 6 week wait for the pistol, but best price I've seen so far.

Front sight-Check six
