Thanks for the write up, well done! Got on my Dealers waiting list, from his supplier, now I get to wait!!:)

This is featured in the new G&A that landed at my door yesterday, seems like a great deal. From what I know so far this one not one got on the list but jumped up near the top, along with an LC9 and thee SR556.

100rd Break-in

I don't have all the ammo needed for a full range report and the wind was at 25+ mph today, but I was dying to get out and put some rounds downrange so I opted for a 100-rd break in session.

Decided to grab magazines from a couple of different manufacturers in addition to the two provided by Ruger. (Left to right: Ruger 8-round, Ruger 7-round, Chip McCormick 8-round, Chip McCormick 8-round Power Mag, Colt 8-round.)

Ammo used was Winchester White Box 230gr FMJ 100-round value pack.

Since I was using cheap ball ammo and was affected by excessive wind I was less concerned with accuracy this time. The test was primarily to check function and see if the sights were on. Distance was 7 yards with 5 rounds per target, offhand.

Silhouette target at 7 yards, with 5 rounds in the head and 45 at center mass, offhand.

(My cohort brought his 1937 S&W Brazilian contract model in .45ACP. I put five rounds into the smaller silhouette at top left.)

My cohort and two others at the range also put 30 rounds through the SR1911. During the 100-rd test with multiple magazines the pistol functioned flawlessly without a single malfunction. The sights out of the box were satisfactory and required no adjustment.

So far I am pleased with the reliability of the SR1911. Though this test was limited to ball ammo, another more in-depth range session is planned (including velocity, accuracy, and function with hollowpoints) hopefully next week.

This pistol looks pretty darn nice for the price! I hope they come out with more models.
Preferably a bone stock mil spec style one with an arched MSH.

Ruger, if you're reading this, think about it... Springfield can't make their GI .45 fast enough. At least I assume they can't since I can't find them in stock anywhere on the internet.
I think an American made one would sell even better.

Any intel yet on using hollowpoints?
Not impressed by a round ball shooter.

Make a Commander version that will cycle
with HPs and I might be willing to buy one.

So he just got back from the range 12 hours ago and didn't shoot any JHP. It's doubtful that he's gone back out to the range in that time and shot some JHP.

Some people aren't very good at the readin'.

Thanks deadduck357 for the report and keep em coming!

I'm a convert, a reluctant one, but they seem to want to address the desires of the public at least as much as the lawyers for a nice change.

I'm amazed (and thankful) that they didn't make the safety warning more obnoxious (although its still obnoxious) or add a bunch of superfluous safeties.

Actually anyone with a bead blaster can eliminate that pretty easily, unlike warnings on polished flats, that takes more effort.

I hope they come out with a 10MM version.

The plan is to get back out to the range next week with some more ball and a couple different brands of HP. My Dad and Uncle were in all last week from Colorado wanting to ride, so I was tied up and am behind a week. I only have 2 types of HP's right now but have a couple more brands coming.

Deadduck357

I was not referring to you personally and like to thank you for your report.
Anyone who has shot hollow points may chime in.

StrikeFire83,

I was not referring to Deadduck357 personally,
But anyone who shot it with HPs.

Besides, you haven’t been twice to a gun range in 12h?
Pick up the pace, man!

Bigfatdave,

Next time Deadduck is in the NM-West Texas area I WILL invite him to my
1000 yard range and buy the ammo, even HPs for the .45, thanks for the suggestion.

Now that's the spirit!
My range is open to visitors with fun toys that go "bang", too!
(and I'll bring ammo if I have it handy, at least)

When I win the lottery and quit my job, I'm taking down addresses! For as flat and unpopulated as my state is there aren't many 400 yard ranges let alone 1,000. I should note that if I do win the lottery I'll buy the ammo and maybe spring for one uh them thar Ruger 1911s too. One can never have too many reliable pistols and I'd bet this one will be just that.

Keep those range reports coming dd and thank-you for taking the time to share.

How long before they hit the store shelves?
Impact Guns said 8 to 12 weeks.
Who are these people that have them in hand?

...and handle the pistol in person (looking forward to doing so next week-end at the NRA Convention in Pittsburgh ) before I decide whether to get the new Ruger or not.

Report back when you return. Willin to bet your impressed.

Will do!

You'd have won your bet! I was very impressed over the looks and feel of Ruger's new 1911 (it took about ten minutes of waiting in line before I finally got my mitts on it but it was well worth the wait). I think Ruger has a real winner here. I know I simply have to have one.
