Over the last few weeks I've been considering getting a larger edc knife. I've been carrying a benchmade griptillian for a long time now, and I love it but but just wanted something larger. I not only wanted to find something larger I wanted something with better ergos. I wasn't in a hurry to find something new but I was steady looking at every knife counter I came across.
Recently my wife and I were on vacation in the smokey mountains and of coarse I had to stop in Smokey Mountain Knife Works. I looked and looked and finally I came upon the Spyderco Manix 2 xl. As soon as I held it I knew I had to have it. Its a dream in the hand and the gimping just set it off. The texture on the handle was medium to aggressive and also felt great. It just felt like a solid quality tool.
The cpm s30v blade seems great to, the knife has seen some pretty decent use in the last two weeks and is retaining an edge quite well. I haven't had to sharpen it yet but the guy helping me said its easier to sharpen than 154cm, which is what I'm used to with the benchmade.
I rarely get excited about knives anymore but this has me grinning ear to ear. I love when something around the house calls for a knife....any excuse to open it and use it.
Anyone looking for a larger size folder, should really check this one out.
Sorry so long guys but I just had to share excitement with you all here on THR as my wife just doesn't seem to understand .
