My new toy (who says ARs aren't available for good prices)

While I completely understand no sights if the rifle is expected to have a scope, mandating a front site and not offering a rear (rail not withstanding) seems incomplete.

In any case, congratulations on your score.

No rear sight at all? That does seem weird. I unboxed a flat top carbon 15 in December and it came with a small red-dot scope in lieu of irons. Nothing at all does seem incomplete. Now you are out at least 50-100 bucks just to shoot it and hit paper. Kind of them to "pass those savings on to you".

An AR with a front sight post and no rear sights is actually not uncommon. There are lots of options to choose from in rear sights. Why have the buyer pay for one he might not like?

This is true. I just ordered a carry handle and adapter to mount a red dot. It will allow me to mount the red dot but still have the irons available.

It's totally normal for AR-15's not to come with a rear sight. It's the same reason nice road bikes come without pedals. There are so many options available, and most experienced users have a preference and are going to switch out what comes from the factory anyway.

$850 after tax. Had over 10 in stock at the Farrow Road location.

That makes it a decent price but not particularly a good price IMHO. Pre panic you could order that same gun from Palmetto with a Magpull rear sight and an Aimpoint pro ($400 value) for $1000. It also came in a hard case.

A basic PSA at $850 out the door is definitely good vis-a-vis the screw job prices people are asking on stuff right now.

As others have said it's common. That is how my both of my Noveskes came to me. When you buy direct from Palmetto they typically give you the option of no sight or various sights are various prices.

Bought a carry handle and adapter rail to go on top of it. The rail still allows for use of the irons as well, for a backup in case optics fail. It arrived today and is now mounted.

Now I just need to decide on optics.

With a carry handle, my choice would be no optics. You can't get a decent cheek weld to use any type of optic piggy backed off of a carry handle.

You'll love your PSA. I built one from a kit using all PSA parts last year ($558, including shipping, tax and reg. fees) and it has impressed me with how nice it looks and functions. I went with a Vortex SPARC and an back up rear sight.
