Howdy all, just wanted to show off my saiga 308.
I did most all the work myself.
From front to back:
I removed the sight post and threaded the barrel, put on a YHM hider/brake combo.
Then I cut up the front sight block and welded the 'sight' part of it onto the gas block.
I cut off the heat shield on the spring guide tube, cut the vent holes in the foregrip, as well as cut the bottom of the grip to mount the magpul AFG directly to it. Also removed the side-saddle scope mount (that thing was pretty heavy!)
In the process of adding the tech-sight on the rear I removed the saiga/AK sight and put in the fancy little cover included with the tech-sight. I prefer the tech sigh so much i think in the near future I will smooth out the area where the original sight was.
rear tech sight is great, although to use with the 308 I welded the little dangly stop that was attached to the top cover 'button' to the bottom of the tech sight. (had i known a regular AK bumper/buffer thing would do the exact same thing i would have skipped the welding of the stop) Also cut out my own BHO notch in the safety lever
used a CAA alloy tube with a magpul stock out back, and in the grip/trigger area I used the molot grip and G2 trigger group kit.
finally I just got my latest and greatest stamped steel mags from csspecs, and they are very well made.
This thing shoots great, I can make 1" 3-rd groups at 100yds consistently and last time I went put 20rds on a 3'x6' target at 300yds....at first i got some interesting looks from the guys with their mega-scopes/rangefinders etc. but after we walked down and had a look at the cardboard all was well.
anyways, that's about all i can think of...
