Looking forward to next show i can actually attend just for the experience and see the changes. Used to be shows were a monthly social event to count noses and reminisce about whose missing (or to renew old, but friendly disagreements). Those with just "displays" were always interesting and informative. The always predictable Saturday morning "rush" and Sunday afternoon "nap time" were also expected and planned for. Friday night/Pre show dealer trading was always great and will really be missed.
On the down side (In states like CA) witnessing LEOs reading attendees plates and infiltrators will not be missed. Current reports of continuous video recording by promoters, vendors and even attendees give me pause. ( That and rectal temp checks at door, LOL)
As for fauxvid Herr Goebbels comes to mind when both the "cure" and the "cause" are discussed.
You may be thinking of the vaunted Wannamaker show in Tulsa--which is huge.
There are some decent shows in the OKC/Norman area, though, if nothing I'm like to go drive four hours to go see (anymore).
The Tulsa show is worth getting a room and staying in Tulsa to go attend.
^ I was at that same show, that I'd mentioned my plan to attend in a previous post. There were some ridiculously high prices on the usual items, but there actually were some decent deals.
I picked up a Savage MKII (that I don't need) for $150 OTD, and got 200 jacketed .451 bullets (100/185gr.HP, 100/230gr. RNFP) for $25.
Howland937: ".. some ridiculously high prices...".
As for some of peoples' astronomic prices (think Steven Hawking) indicate that they have no intention of selling this.
And some can tell their wives that they had no luck getting rid of items.
It seems mostly to impress other sellers and many visitors, being a social event among sellers who have known each other for years; The Insiders' Clique.
Gun shows have always been a love/hate kind of thing. And their prices, based on these type of threads, have always been... suspect. 4 pages seems like more than enough for this go around.
