Ok. Goin to the gun show today!
Tried to go to 2 before. Just never made it.
It's a "tanner gun show". Anyone been to one of their shows? They claim to be the biggest and best show, so I have high hopes.
Been really holding out on buying ammo too. Yesterday I was at Dicks Sporting goods, getting some crap for christmas, and saw they had a sale on 9mm target ammo. 6 bucks a box of 50 rounds. Not too bad. Even better than walmart. BUT...I'm hoping to find a better price at this show. I'd also like to get a bulk of hollow points.
Lemme know what you guys think! I'm new here. Glad to finally find a forum with a group of like minded people. Looking forward to getting to know you guys.
Thanks

Unless you find an amazing deal on ammo at gun shows which I haven't found to be too often, I would take advantage at the sale at Dick's. You'll shoot it eventually anyways! Buying certain reloading supplies at gun shows is wise since you avoid the hazmat fee.

IMHO,don't go in expecting to see a lot of got deals.
All a gun show is is a place for like-minded people to buy and sell, all under one roof.
Fun to go to just to see a huge variety of things, but not a place where every table is going to have the greatest deal of the century.

usually don't see many good deals at the gun shows around here.

I'm just hoping.
My buddy went to a show 3 weeks ago and got the following:

  • 1000 round for his AR-15
  • 1000 rounds for his .45 Handgun
  • 1000 rounds for his 30/O6
All for $360 Dollars.
So....that's a smokin' deal! I hope I can find a similar deal myself!

The only ammunition that might be a great deal is surplus ammo. Not much around these days. In shows in my area, sometimes GA Arms has a table and you can get good prices on their own ammo. You can buy the same ammo from them directly. The difference of course is shipping. Other than that, if you need ammo, go straight to Dicks and spend your money. They buy in volume and can sell at prices that show dealers often can't compete with.

I hope you enjoy the gun show. I love the feeling of anticipation that I have as I walk through the parking area to a show. You just never know what you are going to find. No better place to look at and fondle many kinds of firearms under one roof, especially used firearms.

Long live Gun Shows!!

Gun shows are a lot of fun, and you can find some good deals. Just keep your wits about you. Know what things are going for. I don't mean to scare you, but it's easy to get ripped off at a gun show. Example: I once saw someone at a table advertising Wolf ammo as "rare" and at a hugely inflated price. 'Nuff said. And, I would take advantage of that offer at Dick's...that's a darn good deal. I wish I could get 50 factory rounds for 6 bucks...I shoot rifles, so the ammo's considerably more expensive than it is for you handgunners.
