Just turned in 600 rds in two years time with no failures. Not a failure to fire, eject, or load. In fact the only issue I can report is that with the more angular Hornady bullets I like, if you don't have the rounds seated all the way to the back of the mag they'll hang up on the chamber, but that is operator error. With more conventional shaped rounds I've had no problems.

My PT1911 is in Stainless and no modifications.

How do you know this if you've never had any failures? ;-)

Wasn't at the range, has only happened at home when I first started loading the hornadys. The first magazine went in and I pulled the slide back and the edge of the bullet caught the feed lip. I got very nervous about this. I "packed" the magazine against my hand and tried again, loaded with no issue. Then did some experimenting at the workbench, was able to repeat the issue if I didn't have the first round all the way back. Has never failed to fire as long as I did my part. I also could stop using the hornady XTP bullets as it doesn't have these problems with "round" nose bullets. Can't blame operator error on the weapon. Its only that first round though, never had it jam up while shooting which always amazed me. I've actually been concerned about it, but with 220 of these load through the gun I'm satisfied with it. Satisfied enough to buy another 200 rounds anyhow :) I posted because I heard that there were some reliability issues with the PT1911, I haven't experienced any yet.

Its my fault I use the one load that offers even that little hiccup, and its far from a failure as I've always read you should make sure your rounds are seated all the way to the rear of the magazine anyhow. Have to do your part.

Yeah I'm defending my 1911 and applauding it, so far its been a good choice.

i have no doubt you will be more than pleased with your pt1911... great guns... worth more than the price on them.

Hey PT, I have to ask where you got your signature line...every time I see it I cringe at the thought that it was actually uttered...

My PT1911 has been an experience, mainly positive.
It was flawless too 500 rounds,on the way too 600 i had several feed failures.
I replaced the mag with a Wilson 47D and it passed 200 rounds again of flawless operation and at 800 rounds started having extraction failures.
At that same time i did a complete tear down and cleaning for inspection also.I lost the tiny firing pin safety plunger spring.I replaced it but soon found that Taurus makes the spring and plunger just slightly different as the plunger has no recess for the spring and the spring is shorter. So if you replace one you gotta replace both if you don't use Taurus parts. No big issue, just a PITA figuring out what was up as this wasn't reported change.
Of course my extraction issues were the extractor, and thanks to my noobness i didn't realize it was so loose or buggered up while doing all this plunger work.
I corrected the tension and cleaned the buggers up and slightly polished it until i can replace it when i get paid.
Ive also seen the hole the FP safety plunger rides in has been breached by the small recess behind it that is part of a grip safety i believe. Its just a grooved recess a little knob rides threw when the slide cycles.I found this pic on line and it shows the area im talking about.

Its nothing big to worry about,i just wanted to note it.
I have no doubts that after i put a new extractor in and get the tension correct it will be 100% reliable once more.It may even be now with the reworked extractor.BTW i don't feel Taurus used the best metal on the extractor,it was deforming slowly and should have lasted longer than 800 rounds. Also i never breach load,i know better.

It's nice to know some people (not my self) can actually work with those tiny parts and not foul things up. I can't and don't try anymore. i'm fat-fingered.

Im a kinda big guy, 6'4" 250lbs but got lucky to have skinny fingers, its the rest of me thats fat :)
Helps in typing also, but not spelling.

Im the type that when i get into something like guns in this instance its usually a hobby and i learn as much as i can about it,but this will end up a life long hobby seeing i do ccw now.Anyhow part of my hobbies is learning and fixing and getting in there and improving items. The 1911 can be intimidating for sure.
I really dread ever going back in and working on the action, which btw is done rather well on Taurus.I still wouldn't mind replacing all the internals with quality after market parts.
