My XD mags seem to work in my XDm - what am I missing?

I recently upgraded my workhorse firearm from an XD 45 to an XDm in the same caliber. I love the new gun, but was dismayed to learn (according to EVERY internet thread I could find) that XD magazines are NOT compatable with the XDm.

HOWEVER, when I got the gun home, just for ****s and giggles I decided to test it out.

The XD and XDM magazines LOOK identical. To the naked eye the cutouts and lines appear the same. There are no markings that delineate XD vs XDM.

The XD magazines seat properly in the XDm, and they seem to cycle rounds flawlessly.

The final test will be when I take it to the range this weekend and test them out, but all indications are that, contrary to the almighty internet, my XD45 magazines are compatable with my new XDm 45.

Can anyone verify or contradict my findings?

Your findings are correct. XD45 magazines work in the XDm.

Is it just the .45 magazines that work?

Both XD's use the same magazines in .45ACP.
As I understand it, the 9MM and .40's use a different magazine in the M serise.

BTW, Do you really think the M in .45 is all that much better?
I handled one the other day and it seems that the differences are mostly cosmetic.
I like the way my "regular" .45 looks and it fits my hand just fine. It goes BANG every time I pull the trigger and puts a bullet right where the sights are. What more can you really ask?
