The XDm-10 (A Short Review)

That's disappointing. I assume the mag springs are quite stiff to compensate for the stiff recoil spring?
I guess so. I have several guns with the issue but the XDm is the only 10mm I have that does it.
I loaded 15 rounds in my XDM mags and let them sit for a few days before shooting it and they're fine. Have you tried this? It hasn't helped the Witness.
I did try that on both the Witness and the XDm. Actually all my mags typically sit loaded. In the case of the XDm they actually sat like that for almost a week while I waited for a chance to go to the range. I intend to play with them a bit more, especially after my extra 3 mags come in.

I'd call Springfield. Their customer service tends to be good, so they'll take care of you.

I played around with the mags a bit today. Only the last 2 rounds are exceedingly difficult to put in now. I'll see what happens when the remaining 3 mags arrive.

I shot the 5.25" version of the 10mm today, and it shot really well - love it. It was my buddy's but I'll be getting one for sure now.

It was shooting low left, but the nice adjustable rear fixed that right off. The 5.25" one just has an all-black rear notch sight (no dots on the rear like the 4.5" version), and a fiber optic front sight.

It's the perfect all-purpose gun. Finally, at long long last, a quality lightweight 10mm. What took them so long?

This is a winner that they will sell a bazillion of. The 10,000 round no-failure test is very impressive.

With medium-hot handloads, it was kicking the empties a good 6-7 yards, so a heavier spring is in order for buttstomper loads.

Oh yeah, I also got to hold (but not fire) a real Glock 18 today. It was a good day.

I'm trying to decide what my next 10mm will be. It's been narrowed down to the XDm 5.25 or RIA double-stack. I have an XDm 5.25 in .45acp, so I have a rough idea how it will sit in the hand. I've never handled a double stack 1911, so that's still a mystery.
I would only use my own handloads for trail use, likely the 145gr SWC (401-145-SWC using wheel weights) hot polymer coated (I like Eastwood's semi-gloss black) over 10gr - 10.2gr of Power Pistol. It's a blasty-yet-accurate load out of my RIA single stack 1911 (which I'm currently having premature slide lock-back issues with). Though I'm currently also messing around with 175 truncated cone bullets as well.

Knowing there's extra space in the magazine AND the spring tension is stiff is good to know. I miscalculated and loaded some polymer coated 180gr lead HPs too long that bind in the RIA's magazine if more than 4 rounds are inserted. Rather than pull them, it would be nice to have something to use them in. I dare not seat them deeper since they're already loaded hot.
The stiff magazine springs should allow the feed capabilities keep up with the slide velocity with hotter loads. Again, good to know.

Got a package on the doorstep last night. Turned out to be my goodie bag from Springfield. Inside were the promised 3 magazines, all marked 10mm on the nameplate and a much nicer pistol case than I was expecting. The case is actually designed for 2 pistols and has room for 6 extra magazines as well as an external accessory pouch. It also has a velcro patch on the outside and came with an XD velcro logo to affix there. The other side has an ID pouch. Overall very happy with all that!

I know these are new, but has anyone run an endurance test on these? I would be interested to see how it stacks up, durability wise, to a Glock 20.

The factory ran 10k rounds through one reportedly without failure. Other than that I would say they are still too new to compare directly. Based on the XD's track record I would say that they should hold up just fine.
