Wasn't there some group from the Cold War era that was said to have done assasinations using a .22 from up close? Not sure if it was Long rifle, long or just shorts but apparently it was good enough to finish off the victim.

I'm sure.

The Israeli Mossad is known for it, as was our own OSS back in the day.

.22mag > .32acp

Ideal, No, but when it needs to be there is it there? Yes. .22 mag is ballistically the same as the FN 5.7 but with cheaper, more easily accessible ammunition.

Not from a handgun, it isn't. The Data you see in ballistics tables is from a rifle. Out of the tiny NAA's, the .22 Mag is only about 20% more powerful than the .25 ACP. Yeah, there's alot more muzzle blast from all that slow burning powder igniting after the bullet has left the barrel, which gives a perception of power. But at that point it's not accelerating the projectile.

FWIW, the .22 Mag. NAA's also have a tendency to burn the support hand's index finger a little, if shooting two-handed. It's just that close to the cylinder gap.

while i think those little .22mags are cool, for small gun situations, why not a pocket .380? a LCP or the like can fit in any pocket there is, and i'd sure as hell rather have 7 rounds of .380 than 5 shots of .22mag...
