hello,

I have tried shooting smokeless powder (the fastest burning available : in use for 38spe wadcutter e.g) in the NAA supercompanion but there is a major problem :

The combustion is very irregular varying from full power (rarely) to bullet stopped in the barrel (most often).
I think the problem is coming from the cap bursting (as they always do in all percussion gun) and so there is some leaking at the nipple (which is never the case with cartridge). this leak is no problem with BP but seems to prevent correct ignition of smokeless powder.

I have tried magum and various brand but without result.

Anyone would have any experience ?
Thanks

I don't recall that cap problem being described.

Actually, in France Bulleye is not available so I use the "fastest" available powder : "BA 10"

Are you actually using Bullseye powder? In the past you said that Bullseye wasn't available in France. Maybe the problem is that your powder is too fast.

... or switch to #11 caps, they have more power than #10s.

The CCI #11M magnum caps do produce more hot gases for more power, but I thought that generally #10's & #11's are just about equal, especially if they're the same brand. And even then all of the brands seem to be about equal. Remingtons claim to be improved and somewhat stronger but who really knows?

What is the powder that you are using?

There were some reports of sporadic ignition on the NAA site. In fact, one guy blew up his revolver after a bullet got stuck in the barrel from incomplete ignition and he followed up with another shot.

A regular Companion is no problem to use with Bullseye since the chamber is much smaller.

you could stick a little toilet paper over the powder, that way it will be pressed up against the back of the nipples and it will probably give you better ignition. or, use corneal so you won't have any smoldering embers flying out of the barrel.

i can agree with that. a healthy dose of Triple Seven behind a 30 grain bullet will split a water filled pop can wide open! it's really amazing what kind of power I'm getting!
have you done a chronograph test of the NAA companions using Triple Seven? I've been dying to find out what kind of FPS these guns are getting!
