I just saw that Navy Arms is making a replica of the Lewis and Clarke rifle, the 1803 Harpers Ferry. Does anyone have any comments on the quality of Navy Arms arms? Does this look like it could be a good (albeit expensive) buy? I have zero experience with black powder.

There is also a 1803 Harper's Ferry replica made by Pedersoli. They are very nice. Can't speak for the Navy Arms. May be made by Pedersoli and marked Navy Arms?

There is a good article in the 2003 Dixie Gun Works Black Powder Annual about the guns Lewis and Clark carried on the expedition. The author's conclusion was that they didn't carry the 1803 at all, but rather the earlier 1792 contract rifle.
