NC: "No Guns" BBQ Eatery gets Robbed

Most murders and even mass shootings don't occur in gun free zones.

In most states, gun free zones are a tiny fraction of the available, livable space. Why would they have to encompass "most" shootings to have correlation?

Those claiming that gun-free zones "attract" mass-murderers need to demonstrate that, not merely assert it.

So, no one can assert an opinion without conducting a study, or citing an existing study? I don't think so. This is an opinion forum. And no, every opinion is not prefaced by "in my opinion".

Both the original assertation and your rebuttal have equal demonstration behind it: none.

Two points:
1. You make assertions you can't back up, why is it that anybody should listen to you?
2. No matter what else happens in this thread, at least I'm not the guy with his pretty pink panties in a hard, tight knot.

The claim was made that gun free zones attract killers like a magnet. So obviously, they must be being drawn from gun-friendly zones to do this, right and that it must because they are a gun free zone if it is the zone that is attracting them like magnets - MAGNETS!! However, the only notion where this type of logic is supported is in "blood in the streets" types of headlines.

"Killers" typically pick locations where they are looking for specific targets or where they have experienced problems in the past (real or perceived). If they are picked on by kids at their school, they don't go to another school and shoot kids there. If they are fired from a given business, they don't go to another business and shoot the employees there - they go to where they were fired. Whether or not the location was gun-free or not really doesn't have bearing on the selection process. It is simply where the desired targets are congregated.

I got a kick out of this Jack-in-the-Box pro-gun article. Apparently, the no-guns policy is getting people hurt...like magnets attracting killers, eh? It is now a gun free zone and the results are terribly and apparently is it because of the policy, right? Three incidents have occurred!!!!!!! http://www.westernjournalism.com/heres-chilling-evidence-happens-gun-free-zones/

In the first, a man in Nashville was shot.

Must be because they don't allow people to carry guns into their stores, right? Nope. Incident happened in the parking lot. The victim was just walking across the parking lot, not a customer inside the store.

Then there are two incidents in Houston. At least we have a pattern of gun free zones attracting robbers and killers and such, right?

Again, another incident in the parking lot which is an area NOT covered by the in-store bans. The victim was shot.

The 2nd JIB incident was indeed a real, honest-to-goodness robbery of the store.

However, nobody was shot.

So 3 have three incidents. In the two where people were shot, the incidents occurred in locations NOT covered by the in-store bans. While noted in several articles that this was the third JIB robbery since the banning....
http://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahba...were-banned-from-store-two-weeks-ago-n1842569
...only one robbery of a store had occurred since the banned and nobody was shot during that incident.

Incidents at JIB are not noticeably higher than prior to the ban and robberies have not noticeably increased either. JIBs do get robbed as to other such establishments, whether they are gun-free zones or not.

For example, going back to Texas that is a CCW state, looking at last year and BEFORE said banning...

How about the month before the ban in Texas?

How about concealed carry Oklahoma?

California?

Back in Tennessee?

Just days before the ban in Louisiana?

I will stop here, but suffice it to say that JIBs get robbed. Always have and likely always will. The suggested gun ban correlation is pretty silly, especially when the supporting examples were so poor.
