I have a friend wanting to sell his near new Taurus 605 to me for $140.00. I am not familiar with Taurus handguns. Is this a good, reliable gun and price?

I have never had a problem with any Taurus Handgun I fired. I looked on Gunbroker and most were around $200 to $250. I would say that is a good deal. I would buy it if it were close to me :D

I'd suck that up in a NY second . (that's like a nano second).

Taurus is an OK gun .

I just bought an NIB Taurus 851. It seems to be very solid.

I bought one a couple of months ago for $250.00. I believe that's the going price for it. Personally though, while I like carrying it, shooting it can be painful (if you use .357). I have to reload a lighter load for it. Funny thing, when I shoot my 605 ammo in my S&W, it feels like I'm shooting a BB gun. Anyway, go for it. You can always buy it and sell it for a small profit.

I have heard that the 605ise not that great but for the price give it a shot and Taurus does have a lifetime warranty.

Had trouble with mine. Bought new and the cylinder bound up on round 60ish, sent it back and never felt comfortable with it...so traded off. But, I did like how it felt, looked and shot when it was fixed. Just made me feel uneasy. Give it a shot...for $140 you can not go wrong!

I am buying it from my friend. He has put around 500 trouble free rounds through it and says it fires very well with no problems. I have no reason not to believe him so it will soon be mine. Thanks for all the help.

Easy decision. Definitely buy it, trade it at a gun show if you don't like it.

I had a 605. It was a good 100% reliable gun. Yet, I hated it. It was just too small and light to shoot .357mag out of, and if I was only going to shoot .38 it was too heavy. The advanatage of a small framed snub is that they are small and light guns. The 605 is 24oz, 3oz heavier than the .38spl Taurus 85, and I wasn't going to use the one feature that the weight is the trade off to give you (I wasn't going to use magnums out of it). So I sold my 605 and later replaced it with a Taurus 85CH.

That said, at $140, especially if it is from a friend so you can know its history, I'd jump at a like new Taurus 605.
