I had a 605. It was a good 100% reliable gun. Yet, I hated it. It was just too small and light to shoot .357mag out of, and if I was only going to shoot .38 it was too heavy. The advanatage of a small framed snub is that they are small and light guns. The 605 is 24oz, 3oz heavier than the .38spl Taurus 85, and I wasn't going to use the one feature that the weight is the trade off to give you (I wasn't going to use magnums out of it). So I sold my 605 and later replaced it with a Taurus 85CH.
That said, at $140, especially if it is from a friend so you can know its history, I'd jump at a like new Taurus 605.
