which would you prefer and why, P250 Sig or P229 DAK double action only?

I can't get my hands on both to test, and so, am interested in response from those that have an opinion

P250 is lower on SIG spectrum. I carry a 250sc. Shot it at range and fell in love with it.
Kid was a SIG rep and hit me with a darn good price. 1 !/2 years later and about 500 rds, no burps and darn accurate!Trigger on mine was great out of the box. Wouldn't think twice about doing it again. Carry it daily at 4 iwb.
Just my thoughts.

P250 pistol vs P229R DAK....

Both pistols carry the SIG Sauer name so you'll be well armed with either format.
Depending on your budget & use(s) for a DA only pistol, I'd look at these factors;
A P250 is modular & can be quickly converted from a full or compact to a sub-compact. The magazines, barrels & slides can be converted with different calibers.
The P250 is easy to clean & light too.
The P229R DAK is also a great carry or duty gun. It's a proven design & it too can be converted to .357sig or .22LR(with a after market kit).
The P229R is in wide use with LE agencies like NCIS, CBP, US Secret Service, OIGs of the IRS, SSA, DoE(dept of energy).
You can add Trijicon HD night sights, grips, match grade barrels.

If I had to pick, Id buy a new P229R DAK .40S&W.

Routinely, I see P250s at local shows for less than $400 OTD from FFLs. As long as you are comfortable with the FCG [copied from Kel-Tec's P-11 design], it's a really good pistol for the money. Not much of a success in the marketplace but I'd attribute that to SIG's sorry launch.

As to the P229, it is the best of the breed, top of the pyramid, my favorite pistol and the one I carry regularly. It has never, ever failed to go bang under any condition through more than 3,000 rounds from hardball to the most expensive PD ammo.

I bought a 250c for the wife. Nothing but point and shoot. Mine is the gen 2 model. The Gen 1s have a rep for problems and cancellation of an order by a European country. The rear sight is a SIG only design. Your choice is their 3 dot or night sights. The trigger is good. not fantastic but this is a house gun. It feels a tad muzzle heavy to me. No changeable back straps. If it doesn't fit the hand a new frame isn't all that expensive. I've had no problems with it with any of the ammo I've shot so far. I like the revolver type trigger pull. My wife doesn't practice and I didn't want a light SA pull after a heavier DA pull. I don't have any experience with the P229.

I had both the P250 and P229, although my 229 was traditional DA/SA.

The P250 was a great gun, with a great DAO trigger. I always thought the P250's grip was the most comfortable of all the P series. About the only complaint I had, was the dots on the three dot night sights rear sight were not outlined in white like the front.

I liked the P229, but I liked the P226 even better, and I would suggest you look at one of those as well. The P229 is a little pudgy compared to the 226, and the 226's grip would be next in line for me, after the P250.

I also had a P245 that was DAO (not DAK). It had a trigger very much like the P250's, and was also a pleasure to shoot. I dont know if SIG is still offering that type DAO, but I do think its worth checking out.

Between the two, the 250 will have the better DAO trigger...it is the best DA trigger that SIG puts out.

The 250 has the advantage of being convertible in both size and caliber

My daughter gave me a .45 ACP P250 with her unit inscription and logo on it, when she returned from Afghanistan.

Being a DA revolver guy, I took to the trigger right away. A long pull, but smooth, consistent and lighter than say my GP100.

As mentioned, very comfortable grip frame and comfortable to shoot even though it has a high bore axis.

Very accurate.

No problems with any ammo I have put through it, mostly XTP's and plated 230 gr RN reloads.

I really like the simplicity of design and operation of the P250.

I had a P250. In the LGS I liked the looks. The trigger. The fact that it was modular and could be turned into different sizes. At the range I had LPS and was not accurate with the double action trigger. Not saying it has a bad trigger. Just saying that for me it would take more range time than I can afford at $19.00 a half hour to get good with it.
Sent it off for the upgrades on my dime. It came back and still had LPS. At that time you couldn't get the frames that would allow you to change sizes. I got rid of it.
I have no experience with the 229 but it is a classic Sig. A proven gun. I know which one I would get of the two.

The p250 is now a reliable gun with no problems as the gen 1's were problem prone. I have handled a few and they have been nothing but a pleasure to shoot with no malfunctions and decent accuracy. I'm not a fan of dao type triggers otherwise I would have probably bought one. I also had a p229 that I miss dearly. The p229 is one the most versatile guns made and maybe sig best gun IMHO. Mine however was da/sa so I can't weigh in on the dak trigger. One thing you can think about is that you literally can buy two p250's for the price of one p229. The p229 is a classic sig, but the p250 is no slouch

I own a P229 and 3 P250s (FS, C & SC). I prefer the P250 series due to the ability to customize it between calibers, sizes & grips. The DAO trigger on the P250 is excellent. Ergonomics are excellent. All 3 P250s have performed flawlessly.

My father has a pic as one of his carry guns and he loves it. I shot it for the first time around Christmas and was able to keep all 15 shots in the head of a b-27 at 15 yards while rapid firing. I LOVED the trigger on that pistol, and when I free up some money it will be the next pistol in my safe.
