Full sized Glocks are imported with with the smooth faced trigger. Compact and sub-compact are imported with the grooved trigger. Why?
To meet BATF import points. The grooved trigger is considered a "target" trigger and as such adds the points necessary for import. It's stupid and draconian, but it is the law.
I suppose a smooth trigger assembly could be retrofitted.
To qualify for import, a pistol must score a total of 75 points.
They can. I really should do this to my G23 also so I might check out GlockMeister and get myself one.
At any rate, I presume your post was pointing out the idiocacy of the BATFE regulation for pistol imports. Just so nobody construes it to think that they cannot modify any of the above criteria on their Glocks that's they should know that that's not the case to the best of my knowledge. Admittedly that's not worth squat though.
On GlockFaq.com they give the above table and also note that Glocks are IMPORTED with cheap "clickable" target sights. Once they're in the country those are tossed out and the Glock sight we all know (and either love/hate/don't care) gets smacked on there.
I wish they'd fix the trigger when it got into the country too, but there's probably so few people that notice the difference to make it worth their while.
