I am looking at buying a Remmie conversion for Cowboy Action shooting.
Definately gonna be frontiersman black powder loads, etc. etc. but, am looking around at all the different options.
What I would like is something that is a very close looking gun to the one that Clint uses in Pale Rider (surprise surprise).
What would you gents (and ladies) recommend?
Also, does anyone have any close up pics of the gun?

Thankies

This is supposed to be the guns Clint used in the movie:

The larger gun is an 1858 Remington converted to cartridge (45 colt), I believe the smaller one is also a 58 rem in 36 cal converted to 38 long. I read that somewhere but at the moment I have not yet had enough coffee and I can't remember where. Hope this helps you out, somebody else will surely jump in here with more info.

Remington Conversion

An exellent article on this subject is in Guns OF THE OLD WEST magazine #48, Spring 2006...If you cant find the magazine, I will be glad to furnish you with five web sites that will provide the info you need:D

If you go to Taylor's web site, you will find several dropins that can hold six shots made by R&D. They are made for Ruger, Pietta and Uberti.

But for one with a loading gate, you'll have to use a Kirst, and they only come in 5 shot versions.

With the Kirst, the second link, you can get spare cylinders though so that you do not have to purchase a second copy with the breech. Look at the bottom of the page, on the second link.

Personally, I think they can stick all the 5 shot stuff up their butts. The originals were 6 and I want that choice or I won't buy that brand, myself.

The thrid link is the Kirst main page at River Junction. They are expensive.

I believe the bottom revolver (small one) looks like a Remington pocket .31 caliber. I have one, brass frame. However, the .31 I have has a spur type trigger with no trigger guard. Don't look like any '58, though. Someone educate me on this one!

If you wanna be true to Eastwood, you'll need a Colt pocket .31 for the coup de gras gun he carried in his belt.:D

You can do as I did and buy the conversion cylinders direct from R&D.

They're good folks and get the orders out quick. They also can provide spare cylinders without the addition firing pin caps.

Taylor's no longer carries the full range of r&D conversion cylinders IIRC
