I am need in A cheek riser for my Savage 110 FP. I don't want to change stocks at this time. There are many on the market. What are the better ones. Can be strap on or maybe bolt on.

Don't know of any good premade risers off the top of my head, but you could always fold up some thick cloth and tape it on. Easy to make, easy to adjust to height (just cut and fold), easy to attach, easy to take off later. Only problem is that it looks odd.

just google "kydex cheek riser". lots of adjustability, solid, won't slide around like the slip-on comb raisers. just have to be willing to drill 2 holes in your stock.

I use pipe insulation foam cut in half long was to fit. its ultra cheap and can be "carved" to perfect dimension.

Granted, I would not be found taping such to a beautiful wood stock, but on my polymer stocks? you betcha! nothing like having the perfect height behind the scope\rear sight. If nothing else you can use this to determine how much rise is really needed.

I've actually thought about this before, only problem I see is that pipe insulation foam is too squishy to be consistent IMO.

with multiple layers and whatever the medical wrap stuff is called it takes out the squish and stays in place. My wife's rifle also feature the same medical wrap around end of butt stock as its non-slip and keeps butt further glued to shoulder pocket for consistency.

I can vouch that such foam cheek riser can technically stay put and last through multiple weekends of Appleseeds and at least 1.5k rounds total if done right. Yes, it looks a bit ugly but it works :neener:

Gotcha. That's actually a good idea, done that way. Maybe I'll try it out if I ever scope my Marlin 795.

depends what you want to spend - the karsten kydex risers are nice and good looking- but the airconditioning pipe insulation (closed-cell foam) is super comfy. Some people like the stock pad....you really have to pick....depends on what and what for.

Need a cheek riser

Badlander: MY son and I both have several SAVAGES and have the same problem. But we solved it by buying a couple of risers from Blackhawk. The riser just straps on with velcro and works just great. You can order them from Cheaper Than Dirt for $ 17 or 18 bucks I belive. And as i said they work just great and we each have 2 or 3 of them, you can transfer the riser from one gun to the next in a minute or 2. I am getting more recoil sentative all the time especially my cheek. I can shoot just about any rifle now with comfort now. Belive me this is really a good peice of equiptment, but it is from blackhawk what else wood you expect. Good Luck To You: ken

The older (thick) mouse pads also work well. It is hard to find thick ones now. You could use the pipe insulation as a base & then a thin mouse pad over that for the top layer.

It's hard to see in this pic, but it has kind of a felt pad to it that does get my eye on sight, but the felt rubs off on my cheek if I don't shave. I actually took it out today and my wife asked me what was all over my face.

I've worked with kydex enough I could make something like this. Knifekits.com has kydex for sale ($10-$20 for 2x2' sheets or so). Maybe it'll be a summer project.

I have the Beartooth kit on mine and it works very well. It doesn't look too cheesy on the black Hogue stock either.

Thanks for all the repiles. I did not realize there were so many options.

I like that Kydex model but damn it's pricey for what it is. I think I can make that!

Your rifle looks like mine. what is it?
