I'm planing on joining the pistol league at my local gun club and id like to pick up another gun to play with, I'm torn between a CZ 52 or a Glock 19.

I'm a huge fan of my buddy's 26, and from handling it at the gun store, I like the way the 19 feels in my hand even better, but I'm very intrigued by the 7.62x25 cartridge.

the pistol would double as a carry piece.

Just bought a GLOCK 19!
I love it, it fits my hands perfectly and is very accurate!

Also 9mm i would assume is more widely available and cheaper to shoot/practice with :)

I would say go with the GLOCK if it fits your hands better

My 2 cents

For practice purposes I'd get the 19 for the cheap ammo.

A fancy cartridge is good and all, but I've found I don't get to shoot my 10mm nearly as much as I want.

same here, I got a LWD .40 conversion barrel that helps though.

I was under the impression surplus 7.62x25 ammo was dirt cheep

If you like the way the 19 fits in your hand, that's the way to go.

I'll probably get "flamed" for saying this, but, I really don't consider Glocks very accurate, and I still own 3 of them, one of which is a 19.

It depends some on what other pistols you already have, but I'd lean toward the Glock.

I know Glocks are great guns and still after 25 years of being around them seeing how they hold up and perform I am still a revolver guy. I just find my S&W mod 66 with 2 1/2" the best gun in my collection of carry guns and my S&W mod 37 a very close second.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Glock.

glock all the way, especially when it is between the 19 and anything else. ammo is cheaper, and more available which means you will be able to shoot more. factory parts availability is another big thing too, customization, after market parts etc.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the Glock. My Glock 19 and 23 are my carry guns. My 27 is for my back pocket. I also have a couple of revolvers myself. They are excellent guns. One is a 686 Plus and a 629.

I didn't vote because these two selections are pretty dissimilar.

THe CZ52 would be cheap to shoot, but would not be a good carry gun to me because of it's weight. But like a 1911, it sure is flat and would be easier to conceal than a G 19.

I would suggest going to a range that rents guns and trying out what ever feels good in your hands.

It's really hard to get a good perspective from others on this, because it's such a personal choice.

This is really a kind of silly comparison. These two pistols are so far apart in practicalities it's crazy.

One's a modern hunk of plastic shooting a boring, commonly found round and parts. A working mans tool so to speak, that serves the masses well....The other a somewhat antiquated, milsurp hunk of steel shooting an eccentric, not so commonly found (fire breathing/ap) round. More of an unusual, novelty type tool but certainly capable of laying 'em down.

If you don't have a modern, CC type pistol, shooting a commonly found round like the 9mm, than you'll definitely want the G19. If you already have that covered, than why not treat yourself to something different, that when it goes BANG, turns heads like most semi auto pistols can only dream of.

If you decide to go with a CZ-52 make sure you find a good sample. Like all milsurps, some have been beat to death and others hardly used. Preferably, look for a lightly used, original gray finish as compared to the been to hell and back re-arsenaled black finish.

I don't use my CZ-52 as a CC piece but I can assure you if the zombie apocalypse should ever rear its ugly head, the 52 will be the first sidearm attached to my belt.

Back when the Combloc milsurps were coming to the U.S. in droves (of course I had to buy five Makarovs), I thought hey that CZ-52 looks pretty cool, so I bought one for around $80 I think. I am a big CZ fan, having a few 75 series pistols. I hated the damn thing. I liked the roller system, but didn't like the ergos or the accuracy. I found I just didn't like shooting it, so I sold it.

The G19 is a pleasure to shoot. You can get ammo anywhere and its less expensive. Its also a practical CCW or HD weapon.

For the record, there's not a thing wrong with the accuracy of the CZ-52, unless of course your barrel was shot out.

As a matter of fact the 52 is damn accurate out to 100 yards, no less.....If you couldn't shoot it well, you either had a shot out barrel, was using el-cheapo surplus ammo (expecting match grade) or just never got a grasp of the unusual ergos.......Broad statements, that these pistol are not accurate is unwarranted and just absolutely not true......Did you ever bench rest your 52 with quality, commercial ammo?

Love my Glock 26 with it's ability to go from great CCW piece with ten round mag to fifteen round with larger grip through a magazine change.

Glock 19 is great as well and takes a spot in my gun safe.

We are talking apples and oranges here, or chalk and cheese...
Really not comparable guns. For stone reliability, accuracy, availability and relatively low cost, it is hard to beat a Glock.
Now the roller lock CZ is a strange bird, as its Tok ammo. We clocked some Czech subgun ammo at 1600+, but only for two shots; it's past the range limit and those two shots were striking fire off the steel backstop.
The Czech is fun to play with, but the Glock is for real.

Dude your at two guns as far apart as you can get
Now 52 ammo can be had for nothing. The glock is a glock. Now if cost is an isses you can get a cz and 2500 rounds for the cost of a glock. I have a 52 and G17 and do love jshooting the 52.

I voted for neither. I would suggest you look at the S&W m&p series. Both the pistols you named are great pistols. Out of those two I would have voted for Glock but you put in that neither part.
DISCLAIMER: I have not personally shot the CZ that you speak of but i have some experience with other CZ pistols and have found them to be good guns.
