So this is a bit of an odd request, but maybe someone here can help me. I am trying to figure out where I got my load data...

I went to load up some 185gr Nosler CC JHP (.45acp) this morning, and looking at my notes (log book) I noticed that 5.7-5.9gr of W231 was a good load previously.

Like I normally do for older notes, I looked at my books to verify and double check my notes. Couldn't find the data. Then I looked at online data, and couldn't find it there either.

Looking through my notes I found three separate entry's with these bullets and this powder spread over several months. I know this load is safe and accurate in my gun, but I don't know where I got it. I will say that I get all my loads from a book or a powder/bullet manufactures website.

The load is:

185gr Nosler CC JHP
5.7gr W231
1.203" OAL
Mixed brass

Again, I know this load is safe in my gun, I just would like to find the data source. I'm thinking I got it from a manufactures website and they've changed or updated their data.

Thanks everyone!

Thanks guys, but no luck.

Maybe from Nosler? Check the load card that came with the bullets.

No load data card in the box, but it was a good idea for me to check it.

@AJC1 I don't think it was that data either, the COL is way to short, even though the charge is appropriate.

Yet another puzzle for my young (growing old) brain to try to figure out! I should start writing down in my log where I get my info from for future reference.

I use my Lyman book and write in hogden data. If it's written in that's the only real option other than my charge charts from testing. Those are just charge and powder so easy to id.

When I started I had the Hornady book that came with my kit. That was 2018. I then bought a Lyman book, also 2018. I bought the bullets in 2018 as well before I moved to PA. So I know that those were the only books I had.

I did get the Sierra app but that was lost when my phone crapped out. I currently have about ten books, but this load isn't in any of them, including Noslers 9th edition.

Why in heaven's name did I ever start reloading?;)

My Nosler Manual #3 (1989) lists 4.9 - 5.9 grs of W231 behind a 185 gr Nosler JHP. It lists the COAL at 1.275" though. :)

That is probably the data I referenced, but on their website since I don't have that book. My notes say I started at 5.1 and stopped at 5.9, so that part adds up as well. Thanks .308 Norma!

I've started buying more books and printing load data before it gets changed. I don't like all this modern day stealth editing BS, even if there is no negative agenda, it's annoying as hell to have load data changed online.
