Need help identifying/verifying this ammo.

Hello all. I just got a good deal on a box of ammo this weekend. I was told that it was 7.65 mauser ammo. I was just wanting to verify and identify that this is correct. They were loose in the box with also a few on 5 round stripper clips. There were a few different headstamps. I am including pictures. Thanks.

Measure em !...................But without scale, they look like 7.92x57 not 7.65, you got a .308/7.62x51 to sit beside em ?.....That should give you a clue....................

Best way to measure is case length. 7.65x54 has a case about 53.5mm long; 8x57 has a case 57mm long. If it is any other measurement, get back with us. The headstamps are the maker and the date, not helpful.

Thanks for the information. I measured the cases and they are 53.5mm. I will have access to calipers tomorrow so will do more measuring. Thanks again.

Then they are 7.65x53 (Argentine) Mauser.

Or Turkish, Columbian, Ecuador, or Peru.

7.65 Argentine/Belgian Mauser, made in Argentina, if I remember my headstamps.

Got the calipers tonight and did some measuring. Yes they are 7.65x53 Argentine/Belgian Mauser rounds. My next question, since they are marked F N, could they be Belgian manufactured? Fabrique Nationale?

Looks like the 33 has a light strike already.

Bear in mind that this stuff is likely Berdan primed corrosive.
Storage conditions will dictate the usability of 60-80 year old ammunition.

I would bet on Belgian manufacture, the Agentine arsenal marked theirs FMMAP. Also, Belgium used that caliber too.

I got this box for $50, probably around 1200 rounds. They seem to be in ok shape. I did notice the light strike on one of the rounds in the picture. I will sort them carefully.

It would be prudent to assume that that ammo is corrosive primed and clean the rifle accordingly after firing.
