Need help! Kimber CDP II vs Kimber Custom II Stainless

I'm in a bind. I have the chance to buy my first .45. I have a choice between a Kimber CDP II full size or a Kimber Custom II Stainless. I've looked on the Kimber site and searched the forums, what's the main difference between the two? Pro's Con's..any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's all about your hands. How does one feel vs the other for natural pointability, individual controls, and so on. Field-strip both pistols and compare for fit & finish inside as well as outside.

Then choose!

Nothing to it at all - but it's down to IRL, nothing else will work. And, at the very least, have a Yaqui belt slide, dual mag holster and matching belt (not to mention at least a case of 230gr ball and so on) on the day you commit to buy one. After all, you will find yourself utterly compelled to clean it completely (and lightly lubricate it) before going to the range at your soonest opportunity!

Considerable difference (and in price.) The CDP is an alloy frame with a stainless slide. It has a significant "meltdown" treatment. It has front strap checkering and (for some reason) checkering on the bottom of the trigger guard. It has an ambi safety and rosewood grips. It has night sights.

The Stainless Target is an all stainless steel gun with fixed black on black sights. No checkering, single side safety, and rubber grips.

There is about a $250-$300 difference in price between these two guns.

Both guns are "cut" the same but with the meltdown (if you like it,) the CDP will feel like it's lower in your hand just a little.

I think the issue is do you want the light weight and features of a carry gun or the robustness of an all steel range/training/comp. gun.
