Se here is the deal. I just graduated college and I know have $1000 to spend. I am thinking of rewarding my self with a new firearm. I am not in the market for a pistol.

Things I have:
Mossberg 88 with 28in barrel.
SxS 12ga with 28in barrel.
30-06 bolt action
10/22
Mini 14
AK 47
Browning Buckmark
P3AT
G22 and G27

things I want, but not limited to:
SxS coach gun
Reliable AR 15 with collapsible stock
Lever Action (like 30-30 or 44Mag)
Reliable Semi auto hunting shotgun
etc

So Please Throw Your Ideas At Me.:D

Get a AR 15 with collapsible stock. Sell the Mini 14 and the AK 47 and use the money to get some nice add ons like an ETec and a light .

I am going to buy a lever action in 44 mag. You mentioned lever action too. Actually I am after something like a Marlin 1894 stainless in 44mag followed by a Ruger SuperBlackhawk chambered the same.

With some practice a person could get pretty good as far as quick and accurate firing with a lever action, maybe close to a semi-auto. Lever gun hold 10+1 in 44 mag. It would be ideal for a camp protector, short range hunter or home defender - light weight and handy too. The Ruger SA could be used holstered on hikes and around camp when two hands are needed. I camp an aweful lot in remote places.

I have auto pistols and bolt rifles and sort of want something new and different for myself. Plus being a reloader, I could make ammo for the combo with one set of dies.

Build a nice AR. You can build a nice one for under $1000 try MA Parts , good mill speck products at a good price.

I love AR's but I would also recommend you look at reviews on the Beretta 3901 American Citizen semi-auto shotgun- it used to be the Beretta 390 and it is by far my favorite semi-auto for hunting- even compared to other big brands.

that Beretta does look nice. A part of me wants a good shotgun and a part of me wants a good AR. And a part of me wants something else entirely like a 44mag lever action. Decisions Decisions.

Agreed, build an AR. For $1000 you can put together a nice m4gery. Also look at Spikes, they have a good sale going on right now. A complete m4 for $800.

Buy or build an AR, if you are going to depend your life on it don't go cheap, I don't like Semi Auto Shotguns the zeroing changes with every shot when I am shooting. I really suggest a Marlin 336 in 30-30, great for hunting and other things. I like real coach guns, but you need a tax stamp for the last one I saw.

Leon, no one has asked you this:why do you want the guns on your want list?

What do you intend to do with them? Target? Plink? Hunt? SD?

What are your priorities?

Now, having said that, here's a comment on this.

Lever Action (like 30-30 or 44Mag)
Click on the first "levers" in my sig line for all the lever justification you could want.

That thread has 2,433 replies and 175,312 views. Just something about those lever guns. ;)

If you buy used, and watch your money, you can probably come up with a decent lever 30-30, and Auto Remington 12 ga, and a coach gun for the 1000.00.

With the AR market glutted just now, you can probably go with a pre-built AR and one of the others for less than 1000.00

I am meeting a guy tomorrow about a NIB RRA 6 postition lower and STAG flip up rear sight upper. What is good deal for this set up?

Nematocyst,

That is good question.
SXS coach gun - backpacking, home defense, fun at the range
AR 15 - SHTF, plinking
Lever Action - Hunting and plinking
Semi-auto 12ga - deer hunting, possibly bird, and skeet.

One advantage to getting an AR is that IMO you can sell the Mini-14 to help fund the purchase or put it toward accessories, ammo, etc. Or maybe toward your semi auto shotgun.

I see I'm a little late here, but for next time around, I see you have no leverguns in your collection, and everyone should ;)

As far as which, that is such a personal thing. I'll just say if I could only keep one of mine, it'd be my Marlin 1895 SS .45-70.

I am thinking about that but I think I will have to be a little tighter up for funds to warrant such a decision. The mini is a lot of fun to shoot and it is a whole lot more PC than an AR which means it is more woods friendly. But I can assure you if I find something that I just have to have or I need some money it is the first to go.

Just an idea

Sounds like you have a lot of your bases covered and have a very eclectic tase in guns but one thing I notice you don't have is a.super high capacity semi auto shotgunm so in that regard maybe you should look into buyin a Saiga 12 shotgun and put some tapco intrafuse aftermarket accesories and a 22 rd drum mag it would be a very interesting addition to your collection, you'd still be in the 1000 dollar range and you'd have yourself one bad mother of a assault shotgun

...And yet another idea

Mosin Nagant 91/30. It's a cheap and fun bolt action rifle, has a bit of history behind it, and most shoot very well. The best part is you can purchase the rifle and a 440 round tin of ammo for under $200 ($99 for the rifle at Big 5 or most gun stores/internet sites, and $89 for the tin from sportsmansguide.com. You will still have $800 to play with.

I have thought about a Semi-auto tactical shotgun but I think I would go more for something more like a Benelli M4.
