I think I need a pistol in 357 sig so I've started to narrow the choices down. For the most part, I'm a 9mm, 45 acp kinda gun handgun owner but suddenly the 357 sig has earned a spot in the collection. Anyway, as the selection process goes, I think I want a SIG...either a 229 or a stainless 226. I like the idea of shooting the 357 sig w/ a steel frame & slide, but the 229 just fits so well :scrutiny: What ta do??? :(
Will the alloy frame of the 229 stand up to the 357 sig well? How much more accurate is the 226st?

I carry .45's, but I too have decided I would like a .357 Sig, as a range toy, and possibly as a competition pistol. That is why I have decided to get a CZ 75B in .40, and a .357 Sig conversion barrel. $400 for the pistol, $200 for the .357 Sig barrel, and I'm in business...right after I pay off my CZ 75B 9mm.

You know Skunk, you're not helping any! That is actually an option I didn't want to mention. The idea of finally getting the LEM into the collection is most appealing & the idea of being able to do a barrel swap sounds interesting too! :banghead:
Dammit :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Or you could just sell your HKs and get more Berettas.

In a world of magazine compatibility...some don't.

You can't go wrong with the 229! I have one that originally came in 40 S&W. I've bought a factory 357 sig bbl for it and a 9mm conversion bbl as well. The 229 shoots all three rounds without a problem. Best part is that the 40/357 mags will also reliably feed 9mm as well.

Like I said, get the 229. You will not be dissappointed.

Just last week, I purchased a 'pre owned' SIG 229 in .40 S&W and a .357 SIG barrel. I think it is a very good choice. Same gun, same mags, same recoil spring-only a barrel change and you are good to go with either caliber.

The gun is scary accurate and has not had a bobble of any kind with either barrel yet. Very easy gun to shoot, very easy to carry and a lot of fun.

Give the SIG 229 a close look!
