I strongly suggest a Ruger Blackhawk convertible, also.
If you're going to shoot both .45 Colt loads (various weight bullets, etc.) and .45 ACP, you will be very unhappy if you do not have adjustable sights.
Plus, the Ruger will outlast your children, so long as they take care of it.
