Ok, so we've decided to regularize production of the .358 158 grain RNFP in our harder (18 BHN) alloy. In our normal 12 BHN configuration, this is our Cowboy #15 bullet. But a lot of folks are liking it in the harder alloy for higher velocities in their Marlin rifles than they can get with the soft alloy.
We're looking to name this new bullet. We need to keep the name to 8 characters or so in order that it will fit on the box label properly.
Our naming conventions generally address the bullet's purpose, history, or just a nominal ranking in a series, as in our Cowboy series which currently is encompassed by the range 1 through 15. I want something special for this one, because it really isn't a cowboy bullet. It's intended for rifle velocities.
I make no promises regarding the use of any sort of definable logic in picking the winning name because I am a whimsical guy. I can't help that. My formative years were unencumbered by a lot of interference from authority figures so circumstances provided me a lot of time for self-directed activities and growth. So, if I march to a different drummer, probably it's Buddy Rich. To atone for this, I am offering a free box of 500 of these bullets to the forum member who generates a name that tickles my fancy. They're on the shelf and ready to go, needing only a name to put on the labels.
Any takers?
Brad
