Hi All,
Although I'm new to the site, I have been Reloading Ammo for a few years now and was wondering if any of you could provide me with some info on good 9 Millimeter loads utilizing 124 Grain Jacketed Bullets (particularly Rem J HP's) and Alliant Unique or Bullseye Powders. I usually stick to the 115 Grain Bullets, but the Springfield XD9 That I currently have seems to like the 124 Grain a little better and my LEE Manual doesn't show any recipes using these powders... In the 115's I use 5.0 Grains of Bullseye & 5.3 Grains of Unique w/ mixed brass and Win SP Primers. All info you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

welcome to the Forum Viper. can't provide any data for the 2 powders you mention as I use Red Dot for cast and Power Pistol for jacketed slugs.
another loader will answer with the data you need no doubt or reference to page you need.

Go to http://www.Alliantpowder.com and download the data. Its the same as what you'd find in the Speer manual. Calculate your start load (-10%) and work your load up. Difference in primer and bullet is why you use the start load first and work up.

I load light - 124 grain FMJ using 4.2 grains of Bullseye. I don't have a crono, but think I read somewhere that it's around 1,000 fps. I've seen some manuals list up to 4.9, but I think that's too stiff. Just an FYI...I've found that a 125 LRN (Missouri Bullet Co) over 3.5 grains of Bullseye is a great practice load, and cheap.

With Unique and CCI 500 primers with jacketed 124 grain bullets in 9MM, I've found 4.8 grains is safe with any 124 jacketed bullet or case I've tried plus it cycles reliably in any of my guns. However all my 124 grain jacketed loads with Unique are 5.0-5.1 grains except for the Speer Gold Dot 124 gr HP which I load with 5.4 grains of Unique and it is "close" to the standard Gold Dot factory load, just a few fps slower. At 4.8 grs. of Unique I got a few fps less than 1000fps while 5.0-5.1 showed 1050 or a few fps more in my G19's. I think Unique is a good powder for 9MM with the only complaint being a lot of loaders find that it doesn't meter so well through their manual powder dispensers. Do check Alliants or other manuals for data comparisons.

CAUTION: The following post includes loading data beyond currently published maximums for this cartridge. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither the writer, The High Road, nor the staff of THR assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information.

I load 124gr JHP and FP plated bullets with around 5.9-6.0 grains Unique. MG JHP seated to 1.08". Berry's 124 FP seated to 1.05". I don't have a chrono, but it sounds to me like the plated bullets are breaking the sound barrier out of a G19, while the jacketed ones aren't. No flowed primers.

Alliant's website lists 5.8gr Unique under a 124gr Gold Dot, OAL 1.12," 1180 fps.
