I want some input on choice for ammo for my upcoming rifle purchase. The rifle would be used for a first deer rifle as well as a long range target rifle (I'd like to work up to being competant at 500 yards at least). Any of the above four would make short work of any deer out to 150 yards, which would be the most I plan to take any hunting shots. I'm mainly looking for your opinions on the accuracy of the rounds. Certainly I appreciate the suggestions for reloading, but I live in an apartment and simply can not at this point. So please keep any suggestions limited to factory ammo.

Just for fun, there a poll, because everyone loves polls.:D

IMX with my 270, it is hard to beat the ballistic tip series of bullets for accuracy. The Winchester Silvertips are essentially the same bullet I reload - Nosler Ballistic Tip Boattails. The accuracy is superb when compared to other styles of bullets all other factors being equal.

I voted for the Win Silvertip, but from the description of the Remington Accutips, I'll bet they are just as accurate.

im yet to find a factory load that will come close to anything you can roll yourself....

but the best for accuracy, that i've used was the silvertips....

Not in your poll- but my ammo of choice is the Winchester FailSafe in the 140 gr. It has never failed me and is more accurate than I can ever be! My Weatherby likes it, too (in .270 Win). Plus, when you leave an empty case behind people can say, "I don't know who that man was, but he left this silver bullet!"

Of those cited, I think the answer is to shoot whichever groups best in YOUR rifle.

I use Federal's 150 grain Nosler Partition bullet load, because I don't want to have to re-sight to get on target if I want a round for game needing more penetration than deer. And, who knows but what a bear or big wild pig may charge and have to be shot when you expected to shoot only deer?

I love it that we no longer have to reload to get Nosler Partition bullets.
