I'm looking into buying either a Desantis Nemisis or a Mika pocket holster for my S&W 442. The only places I have found to buy either are the "manufacturer" websites. Does anyone know of any place that sells them for less?

IIRC Mr Mika charges about 25 bucks for one of his handmade pocket holsters on his web site :what:

No need to look any further in my opinion.

I have no experience with Mika but they look nice on the web. I bought a Nemesis from Midway for my Kel Tec P11 a few weeks ago. Ordered it on a Wednesday and it was in my maibox on Saturday. And I did the standard, lowest $ shipping. I like it and it was less than $20 shipped.:D

The shipping costs are just ridiculous... tried looking for an Uncle Mikes for my 642 and most places were charging as much or more than the cost of the holster for shipping.

Since that's the way they want to play it, I just spent the $20 at Mika's (*just* now) to get something I know is USA made.

I hate overpriced shipping...

I've been using Mika holsters for more than 10 years now. This spring I ordered two more, the ones I have are starting to show their age.

I carry my Mika quite a bit with my 637, and love it. He is also a very nice gentleman to work with. If you have any questions regarding his products, give him a call or write him.

Can't go wrong with the Mika pocket holster. Have one for the PM9 and TPH. Helluva nice guy to work with too.

I have both, the Nemesis is IMHO the better holster. Both are on the bulky side but the Mika is ridiculous. The Nemesis's exterior feels kinda like a basketball and is not going anywhere, great design.

Mika makes a great pocket holster and you will be happy with it. The Nemesis by Desantis is also a great pocket holster. I have both and use one or the other depending on the type of clothing I am wearing. The Mika is cut a bit looser and has a plastic strip that keeps the top of the holster open. It draws and reholsters faster and I like it when I wear tighter fitting and heaver pants such as blue jeans or the heaver weight dockers. The Nemesis holds the gun a bit more securely and I find I prefer it when wearing lighter weight dress pants or suits. They are both priced about the same. Both of these holsters require a break-in period and work and conceal much better after 30 days or so.

The Mika is a great holster. For a gun in the "airweight" class like a 442 I prefer it to the Nemesis. The Mika may look a bit bulky when it's sitting on your tabletop, but in your pocket it's a whole 'nother story. The smooth (but fairly soft) curved exterior breaks up the lines of the gun much better than the Nemesis. When I tote my Taurus Ultra-Lite in the Mika in my jeans pocket it just looks like nothin', some random pocket crap. Fast draw too. Great setup.

On the other hand, if you were toting a heavier pocket gun (such as an all-steel snubby), you might want to go Nemesis. The Mika will slop around a little with a heavy gun like a Ruger SP101. The Nemesis has that stiff retention tab that sticks out at the bottom; it won't flop as much. Still "prints" more than the Mika, though.

In short, for lightweight alloy or scandium snubs, Mika all the way.
For heavy snubs, the Nemesis has its strong points.

I've carried both and my preference (and all the time carry) is a Mika, round bottom. It works better in more pocket shapes and depths and remains open enough to get a complete firing grip, with trigger finger along frame, in the pocket. It does not print to the point that it can be identified.

I have a Nemesis and have carried my 642 in it daily for over a year. Lately, it's gotten softer and prints easier. The other day, with it in my jeans, I noticed a few people staring at the bulge...and I don't mean in a flattering way :) That Super Fly looks interesting, though.

I sent away for a Mika yesterday, got it to fit my Taurus 9mm snub (the 642 is technically my wife's, though she hasn't gotten her carry permit yet and we have plenty of other guns at home) so I'll post back here after carrying with it a while.

I have no experience with a Nemesis, but I guarantee you will not be disappointed with a Mika. I pocket carry my S&W 642 in a Mika round-cut. It is top-quality from a great guy at a great price!

I carry a Kahr PM9 in a Mika. The Nemesis, with its thicker material, adds bulk. And the Mika, being made for a specific firearm instead of a generic fit, allows room for my second finger to slide up the grip under the trigger guard for a full grasp on the gun.

I have a Mika for my 642, one for my PM9, and one for my P3AT. Like jt1 said, they will take a while to break in, but once they form to the gun and your leg, they are great holsters. I have no reason to even look for anything else for a pocket holster.
