Neos Educational Guide and complete Action job guide - by hexidismal (please comment)

Hello all. I have just completed work on a Complete Action job guide for the Beretta Neos pistol with a lot of pictures. I did this becasue there wasn't much information going around. I would have put this in the gunsmithing sub-forum, BUT this is more than just a tuning guide. I tried to make it educational for everyone, including people who don't own a Neos. Because of the relative simplicity of the gun I thought it would be optimal to give people sort of an introduction to a how and why the gun works, and how to make it work much better. The action job section brings the gun from a 5.6 to 6 pounds trigger down to a 2 pound trigger with no creep and a super crisp release.

Good job, I'd found another web site with instructions and was very happy with the results.

There is a free program for windows called PDFcreator that creates a new printer. Once this is installed, load the web page and press print, change from your default printer to PDFcreator and presto a pdf file of the webpage.

If you PM me with an Email address that will accept the ~300K attachment, I'll be glad to send you the PDF file of your website.

But if you like pdfs, well worth Googling for PDFcreator, downloading and installing it.

Thanks wally. Yeah, I had seen that other guide. That one was more geared to gunsmiths, or people already very familiar with home gunsmithing. I also added various other steps to eliminate "trigger grit". My intent was to make a far more detailed "for everybody" guide. One that disscussed the hard parts, and what parts might fly out at you.. hehe. Especially since there seems to be no exploded view graphic around to help with that. I was doing the job anyway, so I figured why not photograph it and give something back to the firearms community.

As far as the pdf goes, I just thought it would be nice to give people an easily downloaded single file to add to their library of gun stuff.

I have a pdf of the web page (OS X used postscript natively). PM me with an address, and I will mail it to you. The page breaks show up in odd places, but it is readable.

One improvement that has been suggested to me elsewhere (RFC) is to include a pic of the screwdriver I made to remove the firing pin assembly screw. I'll add that to the guide soon..

Also to those people who assisted me in making it into a pdf, I do really appreciate your help. Because of the weird page breaks that always show up I've decided to not release a pdf until I redesign it slightly to be better formatted fit a dedicated pdf file.

Update: Nothing new added yet, but all the many typing errors in the guide have been fixed.

Sorry if this is digging up old info from the recesses of your brain.

I went through part of the trigger job - didn't remove the sear pin, just polished the face that contacts the sear pin and the sear pin and safety plunger as outlined in your guide. I also did the bic lighter spring.

I did not remove the safety lever or safety "block".

After assembly I have found that if I tighten down the screw that holds the firing pin guide down to the frame it binds the sear pin from moving freely - I have to back it off a couple turns and then it moves up and down ok. The strangest thing is that my safety no longer prevents me from opening the slide when the it is engaged. Is there a special procedure for reinstalling the safety plunger below the sear pin? I think I took off too much material from the sear pin face (not sure how that is possible though) because if I really pull the trigger with the safety engaged it will release the firing pin.

Any recommendations would be welcome. Thanks. The gun functions great otherwise, not issues with sear locking back on the firing pin shelf, etc.
