Dad has lived in NV since '95 and has had a ccw there continuously. CCW's are good there for 5 years and dad's expired today due to the sherrifs office being too short-handed to process permit renewals timely. They told him it may take months, so as of today he doesn't ccw. He called to discuss his options.

He can carry loaded in his vehicle w/o a ccw?
He can open carry, which I don't think he wants to do (but might).

He can carry a taser or stun gun I think. If so, can he conceal it?
Pepper spray is an option.

He asked if he could conceal a pellet pistol. It's not a firearm, but I told him I didn't know. I also told him I'd prefer a taser or pepper spray, prolly even a baseball bat. I really need to disuade him from the pellet gun.

Looking for expert perspective here. Thanks.

BTW, he's in Reno, not LV.

IMO...
Open carry until permit is renewed.

Otherwise conceal carry pepperspray and/or taser and/or pocket knife.

Loaded handgun in vehicle is legal, as long as it is not concealed upon the person.

Do not carry around a baseball bat/club for self defense. [NRS 202.350]
If he does, he can run afoul NV's restriction aganist "blackjacks"/"billys".
