Got the new 1860 44 from Cabelas today and all I can say is wow! My other gun is a 24 year old brass frame ASM 1858 that I got at a garage sail. Compared to the Remington the Colt is a thing of beauty. The balance and feal of it in my hand is hard to describe. I liken the Remington to a Stanley tool, always functions but not real pretty. The Colt is more of a micrometor type tool. I know the ASM is not the best quality out there but the look of the Colt just seems more pleasing to the eye. Took it apart to wipe out the oil and tapped the wedge out with a oak shim with one firm tap. Hope to get them out and shoot both this weekend. Twogun1975

First, congrats on your new hardware. Enjoy!

Second, without pictures of your new hardware this thread blows. :scrutiny:

;)

Here ya go Joe. Now instead of blowing hard it's more like a gentle breeze in here. :neener:

Even I, the Remington Fan, have ta say, the 1860 Army is a thing of beauty, and a joy forever. Congrats, I hope you'll be very happy together!

Be careful now, before you know it, you'll be listing all those Remmies for sale:eek:

I'm going to have to find something to sell myself so I can see about that 150th Anniversary 1860. The problem is, I'm gonna want to shoot it.

Posting the pictures of my reproduction pistols and antique 44-40 model 1873.
