new AR, and problems

is there any kind of movement in the gas tube front to back (you will most likely have to put a man sized grip on it) don't worry you won't hurt your gas tube

Oh, wait, forgot to ask about this:

. Loose spent primer wedged in the gas key

I've seen it, and I was amazed.

Look at the gas key on the bolt carrier, and look at the end of the gas tube in your upper.

Okay, I doubt this is it but one common problem is a broken ejector. Take out the bolt and check to see if there is a missing ejector. The ejector is the little round tube that is opposite of the extractor. It should sit flush with the very front of the bolt face.

No spent primers, unless you dislodged it and didn't notice it fall free...

Don't suppose you can step outside and fire three rounds, can you?

dude i don't know....lol i'm out of ideas may bee the blockage fell out as stated above/take it to the range and shoot it if your not comfortable doing that look up your local gunsmith and take it to him a describe your issue

AcceptableUserName, I don't know if it's just my computer, but the one pic of your bolt face is really blurry. If you can, hold the bolt back from the camera to get a clearer pic. If you can't I understand, but does the bolt face look like this one?...

if you have something like brake cleaner or wd40, put the little red straw on it and squirt the liquid into the gas tube from the back of the receiver, holding the barrel down over a trash can or something to catch the liquid.

do you get a pretty good flow out the end of the barrel? or is it quickly backing up and running out the same end of the gas tube you're squirting into?

i thought that too at first but the problem was too pronounced I think to become a totally single shot rifle if it was just dirty i think. I really wish I could shoot it right now, because there is the offchance there couldve been a spent primer in there that just fell out when I disassembled. I'm going to talk to the guy who put it together (if he did, im not even sure if he assembled or ordered complete) and then I'm going to contact Doublestar tomorrow as well. I'll try shooting it once, if no dice I'll either send it or have a gunsmith look over it. Also, I found this bugger on the floor...is this from the AR or just something that was on my floor? lol

I overthink because I'm in love. lol. AR's as a whole seem finnicky, but nothing even comes close to the way they shoot. It's like a laser beam. No bounce around - right back on target. I guess I missed the boat on these but I'm definitely swimming for my life to catch up to it. A lot of you guys may take it for granted, but jeez are these guns sweet.

Also, can anyone recommend a way to attach a two point sling (simple field carry) to this? Light? The only rails are on the flat top, and I'll either put a carry handle there or a decent mid-price optic. I love the look and feel of the magpul handguards so I probably wanna keep those. Only options I can i think of are something that clamps to the barrel, maybe something that hooks to the front ight or the delta ring.

How big is that round thing and what is it made of?...brass? Can you put a dime...or a shell casing next to it for a reference?
