I LOVE OLD COLTS! and this is my 1st New Colt Purchase. Under 5000 series number, so very 1st generation, and I thought I would run into issue with New Colt, But not this much!!! Long time before I buy New Colt EVER

Had a change to go shoot my New Blue Python 6” and it BROKE!

one of the chambers was tight as snot, probably some crud “I guess” so I ran a empty case in there till something scraped off, probably blueing. it loosened up.

OK.. no big deal. moving on

cylinder full of mid-load .357, Double Action and it fired but was “dragging” accuracy SUCKED! late on that

OK… moving on

load a cylinder full of .357, Single Action time. Pull back the hammer … AND… gun LOCKED up. Hamer won’t drop, had to call a young range officer who didn’t know the muzzle end of a Exhaust pipe…Told him to STOP before he broke the lock stop. I fiddled with the latch a bit and the hammer finally falls on my finger. Kinda scary but not really cuz I know basic of firearms safety.

CALLED COLT, got a RMR return label, it’s going BACK!

BTW: the rear windage screw was loose as a goose

Got Home to have a Slow examination. And the Conclusion is the Latch is out of spec and too TOO LONG. The case rim would wedge the latch a bit open as to lock up whatever. See Photos!

Did I tell you I had ZERO HOPES for New Colt! Was just too Pretty to not buy but my $299 Service Six and $500 GP100 shoots 10 times better than this piles of excrement!

That is a huge bummer. Hopefully, they make it right FAST and you can enjoy it when it comes back. Give it some time for the disappointment and anger to fade. I have had a few of these deals over the years and often I can enjoy it after a bit of time.

The older Colts speak to me. That QR code on the side of the current ones just makes me throw up a bit in my mouth when I see it. No gain/reason for that and looks horrible to me.

it’s good blueing, except the wavy side plate!

I would be more angry of I didn’t except this to happened.

might keep as a cool range toy that goes back to Colt every few months 😂 because of future issues

Boy, I've had far more problems with the new guns I've bought than with the used.
People say they won't buy used guns because they are afraid of getting someone else's problem.
I'm much more likely to get the Mfg's problem.
Or I become theirs, however you look at it.

Look at it this way, statistically it should come back to you with double the odds of being right and tight that you were rolling when you bought it,
And every time you send it back your odds of having it returned right and tight go up too.
Eventually you'll get a good gun

Yeesh. I've gotten used to being disappointed with new guns, even from big-name manufacturers, but you'd think for the price, Colt would make these perfect. We may have arrived at the point where the only folks who can be trusted to make decent guns are boutique places like Freedom Arms and Wilson Combat.

Is it one particular chamber that is causing the headspace/dragging/binding? Maybe one case head not seated fully & standing too proud? I totally understand your disappointment but wondering if the cause could be something simple.

I doubt the latch is actually too long, per se, but rather its being allowed to travel too far forward by whatever retains it- the sideplate IIRC.

Well, regardless, that sucks. Hopefully they make it right for you Mark.
that latch is wiggly & giggle

Don’t jinks my unfired Freedom Arms!

One lesson with New Guns. Test Fire it ASAP!

Freedom Arms AIN'T boutique. Call them up and ask them. They make very little profit per item. Baker's have always said they just want to make the best SA revolver. You want boutique look at korth or the German Umbers set packages. And don't say manderin everything they do or build was stolen from SW.

right when a case rim hits the latch, it locks it up. If I wiggle the latch then the hammer will come down

Brother I feel your pain. My king cobra had to go back twice for misfires and was gone over a month each visit. The eventually fixed it. I carry it on The Weekends. I need to take it back to the range to make sure it’s fixed. I shot 300 through it when it came back so I feel good about it but it still sucks. I was soooo mad at colt I could spit fire. Couldn’t get any “ customer service”on the phone ether. That doesn’t make you feel good. All this was before CZ. Should be better now—- if anyone has a red ass about colts I understand!!!

You'll be just fine with the FA. Don't you worry about that.
I really like both the Python and the Anaconda, and due to the fact I now have more than a few 357s, I've been leaning towards the Anaconda. Then another story like this comes up. Don't get me wrong, my KCT is a nice gun, the thing I don't like about it, and everyone I've handled, is it has just tiny bit of end shake. They say it's normal for those....really? It's a great shooter, and has the best DA trigger out of everything in the cabinets(so far), but makes me wonder just how well built it is, and how long it'll last. It's a Davidsons, so I reckon if it goes south, I'll have em send me another. Your issue, issues I've read about in the past always gets me back n forth on getting one or the other. You can bet that blued Anaconda, if they do start running them, probably neighborhood of $1800+. The chance I'll get one that gives me trouble always makes me hesitant.
I've been giving alot of thought to it lately, and alot of the gems I've been after have come up the last couple months that took from the budget, got me thinking the last couple weeks I might be better off with a Smith 29, or that 1770 GP100 I mentioned above. The crazy thing is one could get both of those for not too much more than the price of the blued Anaconda, should it(and it probably will)become a reality.
Good luck champion. I feel for ya man. You'll get it sorted
